You have to have W10 to use it. Wikipedia suggests usage has been low among W10 users. So is it another Microsoft wrong turn and just not competitive with Chrome, Firefox etc?

It's faster than Chrome or anything else. I use it, with Chrome as my backup browser.

Edge is a superb browser, super quick and IMO way better than the buggy, lets log and store everything you do in your browser Chrome. Chrome is just too flawed from a security standpoint.

Thanks maybe another good reason to look at win 10.

I would recommend everyone to move to W10 who use windows before the free upgrade stops. At some point in the future you will have too and then have to pay for it

I have given the same advice countless times: if you wait, you'll end up paying for it. The upgrade to W10 (if your OS qualifies) is free for life.

I've got to upgrade to 8 first (purchased a copy some time ago and never got round to installing).

My upgraded W10 pc has problems, constant rebooting so I stopped using it and left another W7 pc where it is

I've got to upgrade to 8 first (purchased a copy some time ago and never got round to installing). Why? No need if you have 7 or above go straight to 10. If you're still running XP, time to get the heck away from that O/S ASAP, you are no longer using a supported or safe O/S any-more. If you have a paid for copy of 8, then still go straight to 10, you can verify your free upgrade by authentication of your 8 licence during the install procedure . . . simples www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-10-upgrade

My upgraded W10 pc has problems, constant rebooting The two most likely causes are: 1. the machine was not COMPLETELY updated to the latest patch level with every single Windows Update available before upgrading to W10. Try performing all W10 updates now. 2. one or more drivers installed against hardware is out of date (the hardware recognition is not perfect and I've had to go looking for drivers on the manufacturer's site after trying the auto-update first). Look in Device Manager, expand the tree and systematically try auto-updating every driver. This is problematic if the network driver won't work, of course.

It was working fine them it went into this reboot loop. It's a known thing and hopefully will fix itself In the meantime I had another PC so used that. Given time I'll plug the other one back in and give it a go. Not that optimistic
If it fixes itself then great but getting into the loop at the right time looks difficult at best

Vista is supported and works fine apart from some Dlls disappearing for computer management (hence I skipped 7). Question of making time to back up existing settings as it is a new install rather than upgrade.

Now that's interesting Paul, you skipped XP and 7, but stuck with Vista. Good luck with the transition, if you are going from Vista you 'should' love 10. You'll find it very different at first but it's super fast compared to where you are now. If you can factor in an SSD as part of the upgrade, you should love the speed
