Four of heavy chunky Volt 8" bass drivers. 4Ohm. I believe these are intended as bass drivers rather than bass/mid and intended to be crossed over no higher than around 1KHz but speaker guys will probably know more about them than myself...
I got these fitted to some home made PA cabs with piezo tweeters for the top end and a hardboard back!! I kid you not.... A mate who had been in a band was having a loft clear-out and said "'ere you're into loudspeakers and stuff Jez, do you want these old speakers or I'll be taking them to the skip". At first glance i said no, skip 'em... then I noticed the bass drivers looked really chunky... and a little familiar looking... so I took them home and had a look inside to find that for god knows what reason they had Volt drivers fitted!
Three of them are the same and have close serial numbers but in red marker pen... the 4th looks the same but is about 1000 later in serial number and has remnants of a Volt sticker revealing this one to be a B220SS. I have checked that the voice coils are not open circuit and that they play when connected to my hifi. I've also tried a 20Hz tone from a signal generator and they don't appear to be rubbing or anything like that.
They have protective grills and one of them has had something like car body filler added around the grill to stick it back on (I presume).
Other than all I've said above I know precisely sweet FA about them or their provenance so they are "sold as seen" and I'm open to offers for them.
They have massive magnets and cast frames. The yellowy stuff visible in the roll surround of the one with the sticker is just sawdust.
