I'm thinking of buying a tablet for Christmas. My wife has an iPad and I definitely won't be getting an Apple product!
I was thinking of getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab S (10.5) but what else is out there that is just as good or better?
Any experiences would be appreciated.

I have a Galaxy and my wife has a no-name 40 quid special from Ebay. Mine is slightly better, but not 4 times better as the relative price might imply. It's not even twice as good, actually!

I bought my wife a Linx tablet at about £150, and it is just as good as her fancy Samsung laptop (which was at least 4 times the price) with the advantage of being extremely portable, so I also say you don't need to spend a lot these days.

I only use a Tablet while in Bed so the Amazon Kindle 'Fire' suits me.

If you want a good inexpensive Android tablet, the Tesco Hudl is very impressive. We were playing with one at work and decided it's outrageously good value for money.

Had an Amazon Fire and then bought an iPad, but found myself going back to the Amazon Fire.

That's all well and good but I don't think I want to ship it all the way to the UK if I have a problem with it. Seems the Samsung is probably the best android tablet, so I'll probably get one of those. I have bought a cheap tablet in the past from Aldi and it wasn't too bad. The problem was trying to find a nice cover for it and screen protectors. It was a struggle as they're all a little different. Thanks for all the feedback just the same.

I still can't see the attraction of a tablet. I bought two of them, and both were gathering dust within weeks of purchase. I also bought one of those laptops that can convert in a tablet. It has a 15.6" screen size and a i7 processor. I never use the tablet section, and hardly ever use the touchscreen. It is all wasted on me. Mine is similar to the one in the picture ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71gckbXJCWL._SL1500_.jpg

I love my Surface 3, Stan. Then again, it goes with me to every meeting and on every trip. It's my go-to machine and can do anything, anywhere.

If you move around a lot and need access to a PC for business, a good tablet is I feel essential. Try lugging even a lightweight laptop around all day in hot weather?

I'm either at work or at home. Can't see I need any sort of tablet, even with SWMBO insisting I should have one sand how wonderful it is. Just remembered my new bosses gave me an Ipad which is somewhere at work
Travelling around maybe. I have also been give 2 mobile phones. I use neither

I'm never off my ipad .....as long as I have an internet connection. I recently changed to Sky as provider, but they were so incompetent I binned them off before the end of my cooling off period. It's meant a while without internet but worth it to get rid of Sky.
I really don't like the Samsung tablets personally but then I'm used to the iPad. Friends really like the Hudl.

I'm with singularity here - I'm never off my iPad. Does loads - films, music source, emails, calendar blah blah and has never let me down in three years. Great bit of kit. Even without an Internet connection it's handy as there's plenty apps for using offline content.
