Reduction to £285 for amp and £85 for tuner. It won't be going any lower as the amps go for about £350 and tuners about £110 on that there bay place which I don't want to use.... I believe an admittedly mint amp with original box and instructions went for £550 not that long back! As the sleeves are hardwood (no veneer to worry about) I reckon someone who knows what they're doing with wood finishing could have these sanded and stained etc in an hour. I'd do it myself but it's something I've never attempted before so don't want to risk making a pigs ear of it!

Hello, have you sold the R21 tuner? If not, I would like to purchase it from you.
Best Regards, Alex

MODERATION: I have deleted some posts (including 2 of my own) because they contravene our stated rules regarding private sales. However, to those that have read them (esp. the OP) I believe their actual content to be factually correct.
I hope you are able to complete the sale to everyone's satisfaction.

Before people make stupid remarks designed to scupper my sale they should consider that I have the thing here in front of me so I am in a rather better position to judge the type of wood! It is 100% certain not veneer! And I've had someone with woodworking experience confirm it.

I don't think anyone had sale scuppering in mind at all. As you recently publicly announced you were leaving this forum, never to return, I don't suppose anyone thought any harm would be done. Once you replied, the comments were removed because it was obvious that you had returned. However, now you've kind of undone all of that. Oh well that's your prerogative, I suppose.

I was concerned (and with Jez's most recent post, remain concerned that) the original advertisement text might misrepresent the facts. It is probable it is a misunderstanding. The images of the A21 amp do not show a hardwood sleeve, but Jez might have been referring to items not attached/shown at the time of photography. The R21 tuner certainly is sleeved, but not in solid hardwood and rather in hardwood veneered chipboard (see last photo). I suspect Jez is confusing veneer with some other covering such as plastic laminate. Certainly, as intended, such a veneered sleeve when viewed from the front would readily be considered to be solid hardwood unless the viewer knew otherwise, which afterall is the design intention and why this method has been used universally to provide a cost affective quality appearance of finish for very many years.
Realistically, considering vintage, I would imagine any buyer would be principally interested in the actual amp and tuner and any cosmetics would be a much lesser consideration.
I understand the forum rules, but surely an advert containing a fundamental inaccuracy, when observed, should be exposed.

Whatever the construction I'm sure it's original. That's the most important point IMO.

Enough's enough. A site full of xxxxxxxxx (moderated) who think hi fi fuses can make a difference and yet don't listen to people who actually design hi fi gear. They say a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing..... It's an infinitesimally small bit of knowledge with you lot.... Please delete my account.

Jez, oh why did you do that? You're your own worst enemy when dealing with people. I tried to be supportive last night but now my sympathy has evaporated.

A designer who treats his customers like shit, doesn't listen to anything in order to learn from it, insults an entire forum of members and has enough attitude for 10 normal people. You certainly make it hard to like you. Have you looked in the mirror lately?

It's never a good idea to join any kind of forum assuming you know much more than the rest and you're just there to educate the proles ...

I don't know Jez, but from what I've seen he has communication problems.
I've met a few audio geniuses in my time, and every one has been amiable, communicative and interested in what us minnows are up to.
Some go as far as to share a few secrets, and help us onto better things.
Take note Jez.
