Yesterday was a stage 2 like no other I have ever seen. The first week used to be for settling in !
I have never seen the top contenders having to fight so early in a 3 week race. This could easily decide the winner. Think Rodriguez is now out of contention A brilliantly planned stage - and the crowds -stunning
And we have a Roubaix cobbles stage to come - !!!!

Can't believe he bloody well fell off. Gutted. Some desperation I think Chris. Omega went too early, or perhaps no one team can stay ahead of the charge. I remember SuperConfex from a few years ago........

I am just about trapped in my house today as the tour goes down Epping High St and all the roads around it and too the station are closed. I have collections and deliveries that wont be made :x
I have enough problems with bikers through the forest on a normal day, who seem to think its fine to ride two or three abreast while chatting and pissing of queues of following cars. Or completely ignore road signs or traffic lights as though they are a law unto themselves, getting around traffic light and congestion by riding on pavements, and they wonder why there are accidents
Though to come out of grumpy mode it is a bit of surprise spectacular. Twenty years ago we wouldn't have given a toss, shows what a few gold medals do.

I did wonder about closing roads into London on a *Monday* ....... Not sure we have the grasp of road closures like the continentals. Has to be closed for x to get the race through plus y for contingency. No need to all day or many many hours
I am a cyclist and well teed off with some of the idiots on bikes
Grab a look if you can it's quite a spectacle

Yep, strangely difficult stage to start the Tour for sure, and the penultimate stage long Time Trial before Paris is not to be missed, normally they roll into town and lap it all up for the last couple of stages, this years tour could be decided on the Champs Elyseé, another 8 secs winning margin is good.

I'll have to look at my presentation book more closely
I remember saying over and over on that stage "Lemond cannot make up that time"
He did - you will have spotted

I was out watching the Cambs/Essex stage yesterday between Wethersfield and Shalford in Essex.
Lovely day and good to see everything that passed by. I enjoyed it.
Philip.

We get the tour pass by fairly close to us but after having been to see it one year and almost missing the whole things as they zoomed past so quickly, decided it was best on the box. We also get car rallies come right through our village which is much better as they can't squeeze 100 Porsches, Ferraris and Alfas etc into a 20 metre lump. This shows the sort of stressful life we lead out here.

If you can get a good vantage point, that doesn't have a few thousand mad drunks, that would be good Can't see the pleasure in being on a mountain all day + in boiling hot weather with all those people and the noise they make Oh you poor people. The horrible pain Is that a lightweight E Type ?

The horrible pain Is that a lightweight E Type ? Yup, it sure is. I'm an Alfa fan and they just poured through. My camera is not exactly the latest model and I had trouble getting pics of all the cars. I have about 130 in the iPhoto library though. This one was taken by a friend of mine who is a pro photographer. You can tell that as he cut the top and bottom off!!

Flat stages are not worth waiting by the roadside for, the Tour went past my Sister's house one year, coming from the Swiss side passing Saint Jean de Gonville, my bro in-law and other villagers made a day of it, setting up tables & chairs and picnic, Lance and co. went pass in a flash, still enjoyed the occasion though and the freebies the entourage throws out to the public before the cyclists arrive. Shocked to come home from work to find Chris Froome out !!! is this Contadors year or has Nibali got anything to say about it?, could there be a joker in the pack this year to grab it?, can't wait to see it unfold over the next couple of weeks.

Paris-Roubaix must be amongst or the best one day and yesterday's stage was just as good. My heart goes out to Froome
Nibbles was just superb, as was his team. Went up in my estimation a very long way. Now if they can gt rid of Vinokourov and the stain Astana have...
What a stage, what a winner, what a shake up

I want to know all of what happened to and around Froome. From what Brailsford said yesterday it seems the fall the day before was what did it. Please not Contador or Valverde or anyone with a stain on them. Should be quite a battle

3 Weeks!!!!......till the start of TDF 2015, going by the result of yesterdays Criterium de Dauphine, is Chris Froome a contender?, he rode a great race and the last kilometer was immense, till yesterday my tip was firmly on Alberto Contador or Nairo Quintana but Froomey could be in with a shout, he'll need a strong team and stay healthy, this years tour is gonna be epic,i slightly favour Contador but i'd rather see others win it.

Contender yes. Eventual winner ? not so sure. That breakaway saw off Van Garderen. Cannot see it would see off the big names - assuming they were not having a bad day
Sky need to sort out their team time trial and some of their tactics.
Not seen what the others have been up to apart from Nibbles who I'm sure is a favourite. He used the Dauphine for training. Nibbles, Contador and Quintana likely winners.
