Here's an interesting one - those chaps at the Vatican have allowed microphones into the Sistine Chapel for the first time! www.classicalmusicmagazine.org/2015/09/first-recording-in-sistine-chapel/DG made the recording, and I for one am very much looking forward to music specially written for the Sistine choir, including the 'world premiere' of the 1661 Sistine Codex version of Allegri's immortal 'Miserere'; music so precious that you could have been excommunicated for copying the work in the 17th century! Here's hoping for a vinyl release ...

Now that's right up my alley, and me a recovering Catholic too.

Purchased! I prefer CD for classical, anyway. SACD would have been even better

Excellent, please let us know what you think ...
I've been told by DG that there are no plans to release it on vinyl at the moment.

Sad, but DG are the same with SACD. Other more enlightened labels do support all media (interestingly, Decca do and they're all part of Polygram).

It's a very rich acoustic and quite reverberant. The decay is fantastic! The Allegri Miserere is wonderful with the space and air behind the voices a palpably large volume. Very well performed, it sounds as if they do this all the time, which of course they do!
A lovely recording, thanks for pointing it out Jules.
EDIT: I should add that this is not one for following the words or the ultimate in vocal separation, the acoustic doesn't allow for it. However, the whole in this case is greater than the parts.
