Hmmm... Very interesting - my system sounds exceptional today, about as good as I've heard.
I've had my interconnects (Cambridge Audio Studio Reference) for a long, long time, but today I plumbed in a Supra EFF-ISL cable. The reason I wanted to try a slightly more 'exotic' cable is that after a lot of phono stage tube rolling, my system is far more neutral and revealing. So perhaps I could hear a difference in cables that I have never heard before?
Me and my son listened to Fleetwood Mac's superbly produced 'Tusk' lp first. I soon felt that there was a bit more air and life in the top end, but since the lp is a recent purchase I turned to something I've had a while. I had the same feeling with 'Alive and Kicking' 12" by Simple Minds. Music felt a little more nuanced and airy in the top end.
So not a night and day difference but certainly more than enough to make me leave the Supra cable where it is and do some further listening sessions next week. Time will tell whether my initial assessment is accurate!

When your system is performing well, and you know its sound, then a cable swap can give you a great deal of satisfaction. I've had similar experiences of late.
