Could I ask you what kind of temperament a Beagle has? I've always thought they look really cute.. Beagles are nice little fellas , very friendly and no trouble , thats the good bit , you'll only know the next bit if you own one , all Beagle owners look at each other with the knowing smile that says yeah I know. Right they have there own agenda which is finding food and nothing comes in its way, they are the eating champs of the canine world and will sell you for a crumb, training them is nigh on impossible , sit for a treat and that's it. They are escapologists but it takes them a long time to get far as the search for food begins , my garden is large it would keep out the SAS and just about keeps the Beagle in. They sniff the ground constantly , a hoover on four legs , walking is tedious , no matter how many times you say come on and pull , if I'm walking in the street I try and walk down the middle of the road as there is less scent. If its edible he will eat it and I mean anything , so you are constantly watching for dog poo and give a tug before he gets at it. To sum up I would describe them as lovable rouges.
Oh yes and another thing , they do not recall , they have heard and may look your way but unless there is something in it for them forget it , particularly annoying when they have gone walkabout , they could be a few yards away but will not acknowledge your call in anyway Snoopy is just the best! Fab pic as well ... Your description of beagle life is hilarious - the kind of dog I'm not sure I could cope with full time but would be lots of fun for a day and then hand him back - bit like some kids I know really!

OMG you weren't thinking of getting one ! Remove the idea from your thoughts , life as you know it will come to an abrupt end. I have a serious book on Beagles and the opening line is " If you see a man with a lead and not a dog in sight he is a Beagle owner ! " 11 weeks old and I had to barricade him in even then.

Beagles sound like so much fun and a great way to get fit, chasing them around all over the place LOL.

I recognise so much of that description in Brittanys, which is what our dog, Merlot, is. They look a bit like little Springer Spaniels but they are an HSP breed. The result is all of the madness of a Spaniel coupled with the single minded stubbornness of a Pointer. He's 11 years old and still behaves like an 11 month old mischievous pup, an incredibly quick learner who knows how to put new knowledge to the best use (when it's to his advantage!)

Firstly, we live in a 2 bed flat with a small communal garden. Secondly, the mrs would never entertain a pet but is also much more of a cat person.

We have two dog pens one foe Snoopy and one for Dexter the wolf , Snoopy is locked in at night , the wolf is allowed to wander. I open Snoopy's pen in the morning as I get ready for the walk , no show after 10 mins and I got a bit worried so I opened the main door : -

If King Beagle Snoopy was any cuter he would have to be arrested for excessive cuteness ...

Benny - named after TC's sidekick. Very loveable but not the sharpest tool in the shed. Jess - Evil queen of the house. Unlike the other she is crafty and smart. After losing both our old tabbies last year these came from the shelter in January and have settled in nicely.

Wow they do still seem to get on well - Snoopy is rather tenacious given his size!
