Can it stream to S/PDIF, John?
Does it need an SSD?
Can you give us some screenshots?

Will not work on Vista and XP That's a bonus! Wow, it certainly looks idiosyncratic. All credit to the writer, he's put a lot of effort into sound quality. That gets my attention.

The guy is certainly dedicated to what he does. He is using headphones to evaluate Our systems could not be further apart Yes idiosyncratic would be another another kind word for the design It has lots of other tweaks too with i5 it open up a lot more possibilities Best to stay away from Crazy Sound lol

I am a computer DUNCE, but would something like this be OK for Bug Head ?
Boxx 7500 Dual Core AMD 2218 2.6GHz Professional Workstation PC - 16GB
2 x Intel Dual Core AMD 2218 @ 2.6GHz (4 Cores)
And what is a "workstation" ?

It probably not work as not i3 i5 or i7 You would need a modern computer A workstation is a special computer designed for technical or scientific applications. Intended primarily to be used by one person at a time, they are commonly connected to a local area network and run multi-user operating systems. The term workstation has also been used loosely to refer to everything from a mainframe computer terminal to a PC connected to a network. Why not try and find out as free

In "laymans" terms will it work the same as a PC ? I did say I was a computer DUNCE.
PS I don't have this computer, just looking on Ebay.

A workstation is a posh term for a network connected corporate desktop PC.
The current AMD 6-core and 8-core CPUs are very good, but otherwise Intel Core i5 upwards as John says (the latest i5 CPUs are much better value than older i7s). More RAM is always good!

So, that laptop is a tad expensive.
Is an Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor modern enough ?

What do you want to use the laptop for Normal use and/or to get the best out of bug head

I don't particularly want a lap top at all.
If I replace my PC, it may as well be specified to run something like Bug Head.

I am getting away with i3 for BH but most people use i5 Here are the specs the designer recommends Operating system Windows 10 : (You can use 7 or 8 but SQ on this is best with 10) CPU Intel Core i5 (4core). Required RAM 16GB (Double-Sided, 8bank, set 4GBx4) I just use ASUS AS K30AD 1B and ugraded the memory to double sided 16gb ram for another £80 The ram upgrade is very easy to do Hopefully Clive can let you know what he uses sometime

There are a few more little tweaks that are even more quirky ACAC All core any Cures seems to help clean the ram some people will use three times before they play music. In my view makes a difference for the positive but its quite subtle. Then there is rewrite data that is used in administrator mode I only do this at the start of a listening session as a a bit time consuming some other people including the author take this to a lot more extremes The ACAC and then play music. This process is said to help with other formats (i have no experience but the procedure would be the same but include rewrite for the format too (I have no experience of this)

Now listening to 5.53 OMG I am playing The Count of Tuscany I never heard it sound like this on any system. Played a few familiar albums and no matter what I throw at it I have a big smile on my face
