Having my 2nd week with a 2 day weekend I'm doing things, not falling asleep a lot. Time to bring the B77 back into action. Wound back Went to play - nope Baffled Find the pinch roller has melted away - really Google and find www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51552Hmm. I'm not the only one then. That was a very expensive service and I assume he used duff parts. Pinch roller certainly replaced. No matter I have a spare tape deck or 7 so B77 no.2 into play. Yes. Nice sound. Not so nice smell. Still playing, fine, smoke coming out of the case. Stop Unplug Ok Swap pinch roller onto no.1 B77 Won't play properly. More duff parts ? Next up I have a G36. Hopefully that will work !

Knock, knock
Who's there ? Probably the capstan banging on the frame. Ah I remember this - the knock goes away if on it's back Done
<Listen>
Damn RH channel is way down on volume
Next weekend I think with hopefully a cotton bud and some alcohol

Does that copy reality? Or did you mean reel?

No, he means it uses real tape reels. As opposed to squitty little things in plastic shells!

Yep, those who know, just know how good tape can be. Those who don't......well they are free to titter from the sidelines. Cos we know!

The reel to reel set up needs to be up and running first.
Could give the Nakamichi and the B&O an airing after that
With CDs at 1p om Amazon they have to remain favourite for cheap

I've heard cassette sounding very good indeed but to compare between it and good r:r is a bit silly as the difference is so great
