I've been reading very good things about old SAE carts (made by Coral) and am wondering if anyone has owned or heard one in action?
From what I can see there is a HOMC - the 1000 and a LOMC - the 900. There were also E (elliptical stylus) and LT (line-trace) versions. Both are highly rated with slightly different tonal characteristics.
The 1000LT and E are available from Thakker, NOS, at a very good price. The 900's appear to be unobtanium.

I have the SAE 1000LT in service right now. It's a great cartridge.

Hi Wonky, what carts has the SAE 'bested' in your system?

The carts I have are the humble AT95SE, Nagaoka MP-150, AT150MLX, 2M Black and of course the SAE1000LT. I tend to alternate between the 2M, AT150 and SAE 1000LT depending on my mood. The SAE seems less analytical than the 2M, and is a great sounding cart. I would not say it bettered any of them. It's just as good, and a little bit different.

I'm new here so I apologize if I'm out of line. I have a SAE 900 LT less than 100 hours I'm willing to part with

Not out of line, but you might like to introduce yourself here and tell us about your system and music preferences ...
