Cycling, DIY, swimming in the sea, walking, sparring, self improvement.
I always intend to learn an instrument or take up art but it hasn't happened so far,

That might be a bit if a stretch right now. I crushed my right hand in a cycling accident a few months ago. Just had the fingers partially straightened but I don't have the same dexterity due to nerve damage. It will return over time, apparently, but I think a plectrum is about as much as I could manage right now. At least I can make a fist again for sparring Maybe I should buy a drum kit. Now that would be fun!

Maybe I should buy a drum kit. Now that would be fun! Drumming is nearly all wrist and fingers. If you have problems holding a plectrum then you'd have problems holding drumsticks.

Hacking at the garden! Do you live next door to a triffid farm?

Well, the garden is primarily my wife's preserve, and she likes the "tropical rain forest" style of garden ; I generally do the larger projects under supervision - viz. tree deconstruction, hedge maintenance, pond digging, tiger trapping, new bed digging etc.

Science / astronomy. I also like PG Wodehouse. In fact I'm reading 'Sam the Sudden' at the moment. I also hack at the garden under supervision. I am also interested in astronomy. Other than those, my interests are history, literature, and pondering whether or not to do a PhD.

I seem to have an addiction to building amps.
I have got a pair of SECA amps to build, and an upgrade of 833a to complete with bigger transformers and HT raised to about 1250v. So I'm not stuck for something to do.
Also, I've got into playing bowls, and I love it.
Otherwise it's Pre65 motocross (only occasionally now), photography, railways (steam for preference), walking and riding my two motorcycles.

dvh : Sam the Sudden - that's a new one on me, I shall seek it out. I'm reading The Prince & Betty at the moment. It was one of PG Wodehouse's favourites. I bagged it in a charity shop for 50p! If you have trouble tracking it down, I'm happy to lend you my copy.

If you have trouble tracking it down, I'm happy to lend you my copy. thanks for the kind offer but I've already ordered a copy from ebay! I like to re-read them and have them on the shelf anyway, his plots are usually complex enough that I find them fairly inexhaustible, and his characterisation, writing style and use of the language is such a pleasure to return to time and again.
