Maybe it's the modern way... or a recent thing... but I've found several times lately that (not just on this forum but the others as well) people have PM'ed me for a quote on a repair, or just to ask if it's something I would take on, or sometimes for further details of condition or price on something I'm selling... and then just not ever bothered to reply, at all, to my PM back. 4 times in about a week. Personally I find this rude as fuck and will probably name and shame next time it happens!

Have others had this issue? Maybe I'm being too high in my expectations of courtesy these days.... or just over sensitive!? If someone's PM'ed you expressing keen interest in something you have for sale, and you've replied with details etc, it's nice to know whether or not you're going to have to go the ebay route after all, or is the guy who wanted it still thinking about it a week later..... or are you never going to hear anything again? If I PM'ed someone to make enquiries about an item they had for sale, and found that it was too expensive, or not what I thought it was, I would reply to say "thanks for the detailed description but I won't be going ahead with the purchase 'cos it's the MkII I wanted" or whatever the reason.... and not leave the seller thinking "so have I got a buyer for that MkI Acme turntable or not?" "shall I put it on ebay or give it another day or two?".....

It happens now and again that I expect a reply but don't get one, but that's one of the hazards of indirect communication, I think. I find it more rude when I give help and receive no thanks, but that hasn't happened much recently to me.

Yeah I know what you mean!! (?) Maybe it's one of these keyboard warrior things.... One reads so many things these days on line, posted anonymously, that you couldn't get away with saying to someone's face down the pub.... o tempora o mores....

It is rude, I don't think there is ever an excuse for a lack of common courtesy.

Unfortunately it does work the other way round too - I've lost count of the number of times I've emailed an enquiry to companies and got nothing back.

It's a poor show either way round IMHO, not that I can quite see how that is "the other way round".... My observations were as a normal forum member.

It's like this one poster does not give a hoot about the other, they do not know them from adam. Getting what they want from someone job done {I call them internet leeches}. That is how the majority seem to work, where as some of us find that very odd behaviour & as you pointed out very rude regarless of if you know the person or not.
