This is Naim's current entry level CD Player. We own one CD5si.
I actually like this machine.
Its sound does lack some ''subtlety'' and is a tad unrefined yet very musical and engaging! What I also like about this machine is its bass, good texture and VERY punchy/explosive. Detail is very good but does show up a bad recording!!
Excellent CD Player IMO (To my ears)
Anyone else here heard/own the CD5si?

Don't know how it compares to a 2nd hand Naim CDX which displaced my first CD player an Arcam Alpha - that was a big step up. About the same price as a new CD5si
CDX2 was a useful step up from that and then onto the superb Rega Isis - in a different field price wise

I've got the CD5i which I'm very happy with. Problem is the mastering appears so much better on the vinyl which I have duplicates of on CD.
Vive la difference..........

In the early days they used Philips mech, I loved the CDS, when it did reed, it sounded greast...A CDM-4, at the time, the best mech available, still one of the best.

Hi Shane.
How does it compare to the Meridian 206 you had? That was a very pleasant sounding unit.
