I'm an English guy living in Brazil. I have always been a HiFi enthusiast starting out with a modest Kenwood system and progressing slowly to my existing set up, Alchemist Forseti power amp, Pink Triangle speakers, Audiolab CD etc. Rather a culture shock moving here regarding all things audio, expensive and limited availability. All my gear is sourced in the UK, but freight and import taxes are extreme. I tend to buy on size and weight which is an amusing criteria for audiophiles. I have stumbled on some Temple Audio amps which as they say are giant killers for their foot print.
I am really looking forward to chatting with some fellow like minded folk, especially in my native language. At the moment I am wanting to upgrade my turntable Pro-ject 2.9 classic in beautiful cherry wood to well, not sure but really thinking about a Michell Gyro used. Plus I can have it shipped in pieces, I may gradually buy and build the deck......also easier to get past my wife. Any input regarding this would be most welcome.
I'm in the throws of moving and will have a dedicated audio room, which I have been promising to myself for the last 25 years. I shall upload photos etc in the next couple of months.
Best wishes to all.
Mike

Hi Mike, Welcome to TAS. It's great that you found us. Interesting buying problems you have! The Gyro is a great deck, I've owned one for a lot of years now and still love it. Enjoy the forum. Cheers

Welcome to TAS Mike I visited Rio about 8 years ago interesting city Temple Audio are about to release a integrated version of the mono blocks I hope to hear it in a few weeks time The Amptastic Mini 1 is also very good for the money in its standard form I prefer it to the Bantam Gold a bit cleaner in the bass

Hi, that's interesting at the moment I am bi-amping 2 Bantum Gold's to very good effect and using a tube pre-amp. Almost as good as my Forseti which cost 5 times more. I want to experiment with the Golds triamping the treble which I think will sparkle more, but more grunt from the bass. We shall see. I also use Nordost Blue Heaven speaker cables, which were a revelation, inky black silence...wonderful.
When I'm back in the UK at christmas I would like to audition 4 Temple Audio mono-blocks. I like my Forseti but takes about a day to warm up properly, the Bantums are so convenient.
Many thanks for your reply.
