Just a thought I have a golden opportunity to rebuild a small number of Claymore's that will be looking like the Old Inca Tech Claymore with a very limited few in Gold Plate. But using better and more modern components, and not SMD. Do the panel think there is Market for the retro design.

Personally I think it would make too little money for you. I don't think you'd be able to market it for a great deal more than the old one. Just my impression but more than £500 and I reckon they may be a tough sell.
You'd be relying on nostalgia to sell to a very small market, but the existence of used models would peg back prices I feel. Myst tried the same thing with re-issuing a small batch of TMR tuners a few years later. The thinking was that existing tma3 owners would take the chance to buy the matching tuner. Prices were bargain basement too, but my recollection is that it wasn't a success. I bought one and spoke to Mike at the time about it.
i could be wrong but I'd be asking for significant deposits before doing anything.

I don't know, to be honest. I would imagine if Naim were to do a limited run of the Nait 1, they would be snapped up. I don't know how popular the Claymore was though.
Not really a fan of Gold, to be honest. Chrome and black would be preferable to me. Still a bit blingy. Others seem to like it, however.

A gold version would go nicely with my black and gold Gyrodec, mind you I already own a Claymore (TQ Tellurium version) but hey you can never have too much hifi, right ?
Mike.

Hi Mike how do you find the TQ version Claymore I designed. Hi Colin, I really like it, I play mostly electronic and rock and this amp does really well with those, as well as acoustic. I bought it on the recommendation of a couple of people on the Wam and being second hand it was a great saving on new price. The phono stage in it is pretty good too and does a great job with my Gyrodec. I'm hampered a bit by my PMC 21 speakers but my wife chose those for their looks and size so don't think I'm going to have any joy trying to change those for anything bigger or better lol. Can't really see me changing the amp anytime soon. Thanks, Mike.

A "warts and all" report, and a good report. Looks like the Retro Claymore is a hit, Colin.

I used some New Class D regulators a few years back and they are very good indeed.

Another Claymore on it way to Europe today, can't wait for his report.
Also a M50 on it way to Asia, scary write up I bet.

What ones Martin, and what clock frequency. Erk, I think they were 12V 7812 replacements, no idea of the clock frequency but they sure sounded better than the originals.

We are disappointed and sad to say that there is extremely strong evidence to show that the above has been posted by Colin Wonfor posing as someone else. Although TAS does not allow trade accounts, we have given Colin significant elbow room here with regard to content relating to his products. However, the above post is unacceptable and goes several steps beyond what we are prepared to accept at The Audio Standard. If ntsc would like to send myself, Martin or John a PM containing evidence that they are not Colin, then we can discuss their relationship to Colin and how they can post here while keeping within the rules of the forum. Otherwise, the account will be deleted and the IP address will be banned at midnight tomorrow.

Posting of the front cover of any hifi mag on a public forum is prohibited unless one has paid the royalty BTW.
