Not really studied this but is there good/Bad reliability/quality 2.5" Hard Drives? I have a few Fujitsu 500GB jobbies that are now too small, i could do with 1TB which is ample for my needs if available that size!
So then commrades, what are the brands to look for & where is the cheapest place please?

The SSHD drive have about 100GB of its capacity as SSD, and the rest is a standard mechanical drive. You install your programs on the SSD section, and the data on the other drive. Speed is quite comparable to SSD for music files based on the tests I did on the drives I have.

There are two types of hybrid HDD's, the type Stan mentions, which are as he described, and the more popular (and cheaper) SSHD which effectively employs a small SSD (commonly 8GB). Firmware in the drive manages how data is optimized and shared between the HDD and solid state sections internally. I use a Seagate 2TB Desktop 3.5inch 8GB SSD SSHD

Never had any issues with Seagate's myself, perhaps I've just been lucky though. The trick is to make sure all your data is backed up of course, which mine is. Another thing in the Seagate's favour in my system is that it doesn't have to handle a windows install, that resides on an SSD

For rotating drives, I'd use WD Blacks. For SSD, definitely Samsung 850 Evo.
SSHDs not really sure and I guess Seagate should be fine.
