I posted on the Abbey Road thread a link to my young friend Sam's videos from his recording session there with the covers band he belongs to. He is still posting awe-struck pictures from the studio on facebook regularly.
I mentioned I thought him the most talented youngster I had met - and maybe the covers band wasn't showing him at his best. He plays keyboard and drums arguably better than his "first" instrument - guitar. He can sing a bit too. This clip of the trio "Red House" that he plays in may give a better glimpse of what he can do - and how easily.

That is an exceptional guitarist playing with real talent there, Bloody fantastic even. It's hard getting used to his singing voice, when you hear guitar playing like that you expect a thick, textured and dark American accent to come out, but fantastic nonetheless. My favourite Jimi Hendrix Cover band is a band called the hamsters bizarre name I know but incredible at what they do.

He's playing with real feeling for the music, rather than being a guitar hero. Very good, I like that a lot.

I was thinking that his voice is not a million miles away from SRV. I think he's going places.

Heck, When I saw the title, I thought it was a thread about me! .......Then I remembered that's my own personal delusion rather than reality Yep, definitely a talented guitarist, without a doubt. Liking the music too. Great thread if I may say so.

He's good. That drum kit would sound better imho if it was an old vintage kit. It just sounds a bit bright to me...

James - the drummer is also the drummer for "Dave Migden and the Twisted Roots" the other band I have posted about on HiFi forums. He is a part owner of Music Station - where they are playing. It is a non-state music college in Tonbridge, where James teaches drums, and Sam teaches guitar. It's the "school kit". His normal kit is a Ludwig 1968 in Marine Pearl. This was just a quick "lunch break" thing... What wouldn't I give...

Amazing night last night at Joe Gibsons 40th birthday party. Joe is a friend who plays in the Dave Migden and the Twisted Roots. We thought it was just a gathering at the pub - but his musician friends, including Sam were there for a jam session. Only not like any other Pub jam session I have been to. Sue has a flaky video of one number with Sam and Joe playing guitar together. Sam played guitar and drums, and when needed to , unrehearsed, bass and keyboards on a couple of songs.
But there was this amazing singer, we had never met before - a bit of googling and we probably should have known who he was - Daniel Pearce
If I can get a half decent version of the short video Sue took, I'll have a go at posting that.
