Hi all, i'm Martin from Hartlepool, been back into hifi for a year or so after a very lenghty lay off. I'm a member of a few other forums and accidentally stumbled upon this one while following a link for the latest Standac, had a quick read ,recognised a few names and decided to join so here i am, another AOS refugee.
If my replies are a bit tardy i apologise in advance but i'm under the knife this afty so maybe AWOL for a short time but i'll get back to you asap
Martin

Hi from another Martin and welcome to TAS! I sympathise completely with your predicament, hope you have a decent tablet computer to keep in touch when you come around. That was one of the things that saved me from extreme boredom some years ago while recuperating. Let us know when you're back

Let us know when you're back Thanks Martin, kindle fire, laptop, netflix, bedroom hifi, dvd player so the bedroom ain't a bad place to be really, the teasmade situation will have to be addressed though as i don't function without a liberal supply of green tea.

From another North Eastener (by fate not by birth) Good Luck to you with your op - I myself have an op scheduled for a couple of weeks time and it seems the hardest part is the waiting for it to happen. I'm looking forward to being well enough to pester Lintone for more speaker listening. I presume Newcastle is your nearest place for retailers - did you know Newcastle hifi have moved to Kingston Park ?

Unfortunately funds now don't allow for new purchases so i spend a fair bit of time on Ebay buying shiny shite which then goes back up for sale shortly after. That's where the expertise of the forum members become invaluable, took a while but i finally learned to seek guidance before i go buying and people are always good enough to share their experiences. Never dealt with Newcastle Hifi but i have with their sister company Peter Tyson and have bought a fair amount of Linn stuff off them over the years, i'm cured of that now and only buy on recommendations. Been to Lintone a few times and was very impressed indeed, luckily i left my credit card at home but i did buy a Rega dac from them but i subsequently sold that and aquired a nos 1543 battery dac which to me is much smoother and easier on the ear
