Nice, I've recently started enjoying drip too - a win, win I feel okay about the espresso strength, but then you have a double or triple shot flat white 🤯

Back on the Aeropress with a new delivery of coffee today. The new metal filter is damn fine for my needs so far. A nice balance of full body-ness and clarity for my particular taste ...
The hemp has been dispatched unto eternity.

Hmm ... If Dyson were to design an expensive coffee grinder it might look like this new Timemore Sculptor ... Kind of reminds me of a hairdryer. Approx £595.
What a strange infomercial. Looks more geared towards a Nespresso crowd than those you might expect to take coffee / grinders seriously!

Loaded this one up as was fresh / time to use. It's quite a light roast too The green bean decaf is here. Will roast and grind a weeks worth at a time for airtight glass container storage and have that in the afternoons..

Sunday morning feeling.. Double shot 🤯 of the Grounded, pulled through the Precision basket. I really must try to get a precision basket for one shot too. Tried to really velvet the milk foam, like a flat white. It didn't even mix with the coffee much. You get that delicious coffee shot tasted, pulled through the milk as you drink.

I roasted some of the green decaf beans. They were via a supplier in Guildford..we used to live near Guildford, so visited regularly - I think I know the shop/importer/roaster. Made a nice tasting coffee. It had good reviews as more flavoursome than most decafs.

You're a maniac Steve . . . . fantastic Have I noticed a Eureka Mignon somewhere in your pictures? Yes the Specialita, the largest burr size they do. It's great. Accurate time dosing. Although, switching between caf and decaf as I am at the moment, I'm weighing out the beans and grinding just enough for the porta filter shot.

Nearly bought a Eureka grinder when I was deciding between a Mignon and the Niche. Only went with the Niche because of my swapping between different brew methods and grind sizes, if I had an proper espresso machine and just made espresso, it with have been a Eureka for sure.

I've fallen on a more consistent way to make my Americanos. Two level spoons of coffee into the Aeropress, fill to 2.5 on the scale with water boiled several minutes ago. Leave it for a good 3-4 mins (not 45s as previously), then press the approximately 50% remaining. Top up the mug. It makes for a gorgeous rich but non-bitter Americano that's very drinkable.
I'm back on Sainsburys Macchu Picchu for a while. That and Columbian Quinchia are my two favourites.

. . . . (not 45s as previously) Definitely too short, water around 85 degrees onto the coffee for Colombian beans, a 2 minute steep then top up in the cup with just boiled water. That's my AeroP Americano

I made us a couple of Espresso this morning. I inadvertently pressed the 2 shot button on mine. Twice the water volume through a single shot, and I'm pretty sure the pre-infusion time is longer too. The result was a more watery espresso, but the crema was excellent! Far better than the single shot!
I'm going to custom set the pre-infusion time to longer and test my way forward. Failing that I can custom set the water duration to a bit longer and see if it was due to that. Or a mixture of both?
Lots of happy coffee experiments.

"Most espresso machines are programmed to have a pre-infusion time of only a few seconds, but a longer pre-infusion is better. You'll have a more consistent extraction, giving you an espresso shot with bright acidity, a heavier body, and a creamier texture"
I've gone up to 8 secs pre-infusion and total extraction time of 30 secs.
Nice cup of decaf coffee this afternoon ☕👍
Might try 10secs pre-infusion.
