< A special coffee for Thomson's - our first Tanzanian coffee and a project we are proud to support. This coffee comes from smallholders in the Mbeya, Mwankumbi region of Tanzania and is processed by a group of widows. Neema a recent widow decided to group together with other women farmers who faced difficulties selling their coffee. She is the sole breadwinner of her family supporting six children. The price we pay for this coffee via our UK importer the Little Coffee Company ensures that Neema & her group of widows receive nearly double their normal household income. >
Tried the Artisan Columbia today - doesn't really smell distinctive in the bag and guess what, it doesn't taste of much either! None of the promised notes and complexity are there. I will brew a little longer next time but think I will struggle to finish this extraordinarily ordinary coffee.
For the past three days I have felt horrible - each morning I got a headache which lasted the entire day and completely wiped me out. I was also extremely tense and irritable.
I now know why - yesterday I had my first coffee for three days, a Costa cappuccino, and within about 30 mins my headache started to lift! It was caffeine withdrawal for sure that had wreaked so much havoc on my body. So the moral of this story is never run out of coffee.

Did you know that Mormons consider coffee to be 'strong drink' and taboo? You do not, apparently, get into their temple if you partake of the Devil's drink. It also applies to green tea, oh, and vaping.
[EDIT] Apparently there was more truth to my joke about "The Devil's Drink" than I realised. When coffee was first brought to Christian Europe it was viewed with great suspicion and was seen as the drink of the Muslims. Known as “Satan’s drink.”
