Did you get a look at the DVD players I linked you to? Good value them.

Are you still desiring a non black finish ? I have a studio on the first floor of my house, it's very dusty. I also have an OCD about dust so silver or champage are a big enough nightmare for me.

A DVD player functions identically to a CD player - stick a disc in and press play, or select a rack number of choice. You don't need a TV.

If they do, why havn't CD players gone the way of eight track players? If this seems a dumb question, it's because I'm a bit of a thicky when it comes to hi-fi! Not attracted to the light though

Personally I don't feel a DVD player is likely to offer any sort of upgrade. I have a Pioneer DV-717 (big champagne finished jobbie) that many rave over when partnered with a DAC. As a stand alone player, I find it bland in the extreme. As it's one of the better built DVD players, it hasn't led me to eeriest further with them. The only decent player I can think of that can be had for £50 or so and comes in silver is the NAD C521BEE. Can anyone else suggest others?

OK, I'm really not sure of who knows what here, so can I ask straight out what some are hinting at?
Xquki: I'm not sure if you are the same poster who was on here before under the username "Moth". Are you one and the same? That's what is being alluded to by some here. If you're not, you will be clueless to the Moth references. Moth rather unusually talked about owning products that didn't seem to exist, and was subsequently suspended, hence the scepticism by some.
Moth and her partner "Guest" also talked of some rather "off the wall" hifi tweaks originally proposed by (and still associated with) Peter and May Belt. This was referred to here in a post that again seems to have passed over your head. I have no idea if you are anything to do with the former poster, Moth, or indeed whether Moth had any connection to Mr and Mrs Belt, but for the sake of clarity I wanted to get it out in the open.

Oh! I thought it meant moth because I said I liked silver rather than black gear; you know shiny things. I don't actually have a partner at the moment, I've never been out with a Peter, or anyone called Belt. What are tweaks? If anyone else wants to ask me anything I've nothing to hide, although a young woman on the internet has to be careful as I'm sure you'll agree. I honestly thought everyone was digging at me because I'm a bit of a Hi-fi thicky. I was just going to add my ProSound headphones to my accessories, but don't know if I should now? [the purple ones].

OK so as Xquki has confirmed that she isn't Moth returning, can we all take any questions or posts at face value please? Everyone has to start somewhere.

Last night I brought my Toshiba2010 DVD player from downstairs and plugged it into my studio Hi-fi. I think bland would be a perfect description of the sound too. I agree with you singularity. I don't disagree with anyone though, everyone is entitled to their own point of view.
