Django Reihardt was a Jazz guitarist who is mostly famous for playing with Stephane Grappelli Before becoming famous Django had a fire in his Caravan where his fingers got badly damaged, giving him only the use of two fingers on his fretting hand One of my favorite stories is he was at a party playing guitar that the famous classical guitarist Andres Segovia was playing Segovia asked Django what the title was so he could get manascript of the music. Django replied I was improvising
Here a selection of guitarist and music inspired by Django
Django son Babik was a pretty talented plyer in his own right he took his own path but like his father had a way of creating memorable melody lines The wonderful Bireli Lagrene is backing him
Next up is Fapy Lafertin
Boulou Ferre I saw him play about 20 ears ago a Fantastic player
One of my favourite guitarist is Bireli Lagrene I really recommend Inferno and Live with Vic Juris Here he is playing something more modern
Perhaps my favorite player is Jimmy Rosenberg The guy could just always blow my mind what he do next. Shame drugs got the better of him
John Jorgensen Saw him with the Hellecasters at the Mean Fiddler
Gary Potter Is a Brit than can play with the best
Martin Taylor
David Reinhardt Going full circle to django grandson

This is great John. Lots of avenues to explore. Thanks. Your mention of Segovia reminded me of a story I heard Joe Ely tell about how he was giving a performance with Les Paul when a member of the audience asked why Les Paul was spending so much time tuning up between tunes whereas Segovia never did it once. Les Paul's reply was "Well, I guess Mr Segovia just doesn't give a shit"
