You're going to have to do something about that. Tell me about it, but now that I'm moving abroad at the end of the year it may have to wait longer than I'd planned. I'm on the verge of selling pretty much all my Hi-Fi, bar my Mini-T office system and my Harbeth speakers. Can't really take it with me and it's too costly to put everything into storage for 3 years, but it's not an easy decision to make?

I think you've chosen well, you'll be able to buy any amount of electronics over there but your Harbeths create your sound sig so take them with you. Difficult choices, but exciting future.

What did anyone else buy, or am I the only one who turned out for RSD2015? Me working. Saturday is the day I get things done with no interruptions - and the music at a nice volume. I have been told I was phoned during the day. Not aware due to the music

It's a great store - Square Records, Wimborne. The town crier comes down for 8.00, to call all to attention and formally open the store - you gotta love it. Not only do they give you a list of the records available, they gave you a board to lean on and a highlighter pen. Very well organised, very relaxed and a very jovial atmosphere and the bakery over the road opens early for hot coffee and bacon sarnies for those in the queue You get music in the afternoon too, I took this video in 2011

It's Record Store Day again this Saturday and I've heard rather less about it this year than on previous years. I haven't really bothered about it for the last couple and, looking at the list of exclusive releases, I don't think I will be troubling the queues with my presence this year either. I expect that, as in the last couple of years, if you are willing to pay a hefty premium you will be able to get want you want without queuing - just take a look on Ebay within 20 seconds of the shops opening and you'll see all resellers will be listing all the goodies you might ever desire! It's a big risk buying off the net though isn't it?

Depends who you shop with I suppose. Anything we have left will be added to our website, but the prices won't be any different to what we were selling it for on the day, other than adding some postage. I think it's a bit cheeky upping the price, especially when there's so many people out there unable to get what they wanted because of the lack of decent local retailers, so their only choice is to hunt down what they want on the net.

What did anyone else buy, or am I the only one who turned out for RSD2015? The main one I was after (other than the Foos) was Amon Tobin's Dark Jovian - haven't listened to it yet other than a few short excerpts off the web - liking it, and glad I didn't miss out as people are asking silly money for it now!

Depends who you shop with I suppose. Agreed, just do your homework correctly and don't buy blind from ebay. I bought two items and both look to be good sellers and were asking reasonable prices, which I think is an indication. I sold two things to fund the items I really wanted, made a loss on one and a small bit on the other, so broke even. I sold them both in minutes for a fraction of what other sellers were asking, but I wasn't trying to profit, just recoup what I paid and get the records I wanted.

Nice. Do tell if it sounds substantially better than the original release. I suspect the very basic recording, with lots of tape hiss, may negate any further insight into the music.

When I get a turntable, I'll let you know Martin The 401 and SME has gone and all I have left from that yellow Rega Planar 3 is the plinth and feet! I do have a TechnoArm though, rewired by Johnny Origami.

The 401 is gone? Get the Rega up and running, the TechnoArm is good!

Yes, sold it too Nathan (nuff) on AoS. It's all gotta go (well most of it anyway). I may just cobble something together with the Rega, as I am now buying more vinyl than CDs and I don't have a TT . . . doh!

Did you ever get the 401 restored and fully running No John, I bought a replacement chassis but now don't have either the time or inclination to restore it and it seemed a waste to stick it in a box for over 3 years, when I would probably still move it on. I just couldn't ever envisage it fitting into my living space - too darned ugly. I reckon when all is said and done, Tim is still going to go for a Linn! Haha, or maybe a Thorens TD160 I just love the classic wooden plinth with a nice shiny platter look, some beautifully restored TD160's out there. Maybe a VPI or an Orbe, who knows? I'll be able to afford whatever I want (within reason) when I come back. I really would like a stop gap for now though, as I have quite a few LPs I'd like to play. Elegant simplicity - now I could see that sitting in my lounge.
