Hah.....or Mick Fleetwood! Ten more. These ones come alternately from the world of Jazz and the Planet Zappa: Art Blakey Terry Bozzio Billy Cobham Vinnie Colaiuta Max Roach Chad Wackerman Buddy Rich Aynsley Dunbar Elvin Jones Chester Thompson Saw Vinnie Colaiuta the other night at a Sting and Paul Simon gig. He put Paul Simon's drummer to shame.

As intimated by my post, I first became aware of him through his work with Frank Zappa. As our Frankie was originally a drummer, as well as an exceedingly demanding band leader, you could always trust him to sniff out the good drummers.

This is a hard one to decide as it is dependant on your taste in music, or what you happen to be listening to a lot at the time. I find myself listening to a lot of the old Dave Brubeck albums, some cracking stuff here. Dave's drummer -Randy Jones is just brilliant. Very quick, very rhythmical and just on the money. I saw the Dave Brubeck Quartet play about 10 years ago in Brighton. I remember these four old codgers hobbling on stage and especially the drummer, Randy, was really struggling to sit on his drum stool. As a drummer myself I wasn't expecting much, as if he had trouble walking how the hell is he going to play well. But play well he did, bloody hell was I impressed. I remember I was on the edge of my seat for two hours.

I was going to post this in the Windows 10 thread, but then I remembered this one and thought it somehow suited.
