Spot on Chris, it makes me mad seeing fellow cyclists flouting the law, good to see the reinforcement of 'use lights when dark', i shake my head in despair when i see some eejits not using lights or hi-viz garments.

I can add to one for cyclists Don't go down the road 2 and 3 abreast. It pisses everyone off and another Be aware that large lumps of metal going at almost any speed can and will maim or kill you

Being a cyclist myself, I too hate seeing other cyclists breaking rules and generally being dicks on roads and pavements. But I'm sure I came across a link once that showed that cyclists were allowed to travel through red lights as long as it was safe to do so. I'm certainly not condoning the behaviour though, and it isn't something I do.
I don't mind cycling on pavements, as long as respect is being shown for pedestrians - I can't stand those that weave in and out of pedestrians, or cycle so fast they'd have no chance of stopping should a child wander in front of them at any time.

A quick tip for motorists and cyclists alike - Those white lines and directional arrows in car parks are NOT purely decorative,

I'm certainly not condoning the behaviour though, and it isn't something I do. From Rules for cyclists on the .gov website. You MUST NOT cross the stop line when the traffic lights are red. Some junctions have an advanced stop line to enable you to wait and position yourself ahead of other traffic (see Rule 178). Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10 & 36(1)
Also from the Cycle Law website: The Institute of Advanced Motorists have also revealed in their research that 57% of cyclists admit to running red lights[4] whilst a YouGov poll revealed that 35% of cyclists at least “occassionally” ignore red lights

Fair enough. I'm even more curious as to what the link was that I clicked on then. As I say though, I abide by all road rules, bar riding on pavements during (what I consider to be) dangerous sections of roads, nowhere I'd rather get a few funny looks than endanger my life.

While I was looking for that info I did notice an article in the Telegraph amongst others that made a case for allowing it but I didn't see any evidence of it actually being the case.

I cycle on some pavements They are either cycle paths or shared with peds. Not helpful when the school tips out and the kids wander along the cycle lane intent on their little iBox oblivious to anyone.
Used to go through one red light. My weight with bike wasn't enough to trip it to green and I felt rather frustrated waiting for a car to come along so I would cautiously go through

I can see the sense in being able to go left on a red light if it's clear to do so. In fact, I actually think that it should be allowed with other traffic too, as it is in the USA (right on a red there though!). However, in the meantime, it's the law of the land that you can't, so that should be respected.

I was going straight on !
Was ridiculous cycling home around 8 or 9pm, almost no traffic and me just sitting there, waiting for a car to come along and trip the lights
I was *dead* careful
