I forgot him, too. Really enjoyable, tuneful, guitarist who has great stage presence and repartee.

If we're talking dead ones - John Entwistle on bass guitar; a real virtuoso.

Andy Powell and Ted Turner (Wishbone Ash) Needless to say there are lots more. Of course should have mentioned them Any twin guitar set up is likely to get me interested

A few from me; Eric Clapton - probably my favourite guitarist and artist to be honest. James Taylor, excellent acoustic guitar. Jeff Beck - yep he is excellent. Jimmy Hendrix - Supreme - simples. Joe Satriani Blake Mills - Very new talent but certainly knows how to play Buddy Guy Steve Clark - Been dead since the 90's but IMHO the best guitarist Def Leppard ever had and still sorely missed! - so underrated! Dave Gilmore - absolutely excellent Dave Grohl - Foo Fighters front man and easily one of the best drummers ever too. Hmm gets me thinking, there must be more! Paul.

No-one has mentioned Prince. His guitar playing is very nice indeed, irrespective of his other stage antics.

The problem with threads like this is that you make your first post and you quickly realise that you've omitted some great players. So here's an extension to my list, and it's nowhere near being extensive. Ray Gomez Danny Gatton Paul (Tonka) Chapman & Tony Smith ( Lone Star) Zal Cleminsky Manny Charlton Martin Barré Roy Buchanan Gary Moore Eric Johnson Scott Gorham Tony Iommi

I'll add:
José Feliciano Hank Marvin Chris Rea
Can't be doing with any smartarse playing. However technically brilliant it may be. It just does nothing for me. Give me something like this, any day:

No-one has mentioned Prince. His guitar playing is very nice indeed, irrespective of his other stage antics. Well said Martin ... I'm a massive Prince fan anyway and his guitar prowess is very underated for me ... They probably won't have many fans on this board but I really enjoy Dave Murray and Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden.
