Yes, it was a slow burner for me too.

For me it had something immediately engaging, but just got better and better the more I've listened to it... Listen out for his other album 'Break Mirrors', also an excellent album but without some if the magic of this one.

Was an odd one for me.
I liked it immediately on sampling. Improved slightly on multiple listens. Superb quality recording is a big bonus

Totally agree Mike, the recording certainly lifts the album quite a bit.

Playing the LP, the 2011 recording is vivid, dynamic and very much in-the-room. One of the best newly recorded albums of recent years and the music continues to grow on me too. I bought the Vinyl version of this album finally at the weekend and just playing it now. In my opinion the Vinyl is vastly superior to the CD in virtually every way, more detail, better control of the bass, excellent. Totally agree with you Martin, the recording is superb. Managed to pick the album up for £8 in a music store (Head Music) whilst we were in Cardiff for the weekend, so even better

Read on Wiki that apparently Blake Mills produced his own album... well he certainly knows what he's doing.

I didn't like the vocal presentation - you can't make out what the words are. It's no wonder PJ likes it I gave up after about 1 minute of track 4.
That's 10 wasted minutes I'll not get back .....

We'll have to agree to disagree. It's a bizarre recording.

I am almost gutted for you, Chris I am gutted for me! I'm just thankful that I didn't fork out any hard earned of any significance to hear as much as I did.
It would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff, and you're welcome to this apocryphal shite I didn't make a move to turn off Rainbow Rising, even though I didn't enjoy it - I needed to hear it all to remind me why I don't really rate it. This didn't make it to the end of track 4.
I actually switched to Jerry's favourite band and played this ...

Think I heard 90125 when first out and not impressed. Yes tailed off for me Trevor Horn too much for you? 90125 sounds like lots of Trevor Horn produced albums, so it could be Frankie Goes To Hollywood, or Seal, anyone else you care to think of.
