Whilst watching some of the TV coverage of the service for Richard III in Leicester yesterday, I discovered the most wonderful choral work I have heard in some time, sung by the choir to commemorate him - ’Take him earth for cherishing’ by Herbert Howells. I used to sing lots of HH as a chorister in the 70’s, but don’t remember ever singing anything as beautiful as this! Originally written in 1963 for a memorial service for JFK, you can read about it here … www.bostoncecilia.org/blog/bid/321359/Take-Him-Earth-for-Cherishing-50-Years-after-JFKThis is the best version of it I could find on YouTube, which will give you an idea. It's only 9 mins so try to stay with it ...

Glad you enjoyed it Martin! I'm buying it too, but am going for ZRG507 on Argo, which looks superb - Choir of King's College Cambridge with David Willcocks.
