Guys the forum looks a bit bland to me, can we have a nice banner at the top with lots of nice images of gear etc?

Oh, how every other forum! Don't you like our tasteful simplicity?
It's words that speak...

Yeah, no manking about with banners, please. Also ban: smilies; the use of the apostrophe in the possessive form of 'it'; the use of the word 'loose' when 'lose' is the appropriate word; 'flavour of the month' discussions, and lots of other things as they spring to mind.

I am with banning tedious 70 page threads about a load of nonsense!

The incorrect use of to/too/two The use of the non-existent English construction could of/should of/would of Confusing there/their/they're The use of apostrophes in plurals
etc.
However, being a friendly forum means we shouldn't pick up on every use as it would be rude. Unless it's funny, of course!
Smilies are good for conveying body language!

Yes, but if we leave them in place they strongly encourage the member to change them pronto!

Admins - this isn't about the site banner per set, but you can pay to remove the adverts (on a per user basis). Do you know if this is forever, or for a maximum of 12 months, having animated adverts really detracts from the experience for me... So I might stump up.

Also, in the related topics and stories, is there a way to get rid of those awful "1 weird tip for fat loss" articles with pictures?

There is a sign at the bottom which says - click to remove banner ads .
However the forum , is free . It seems to me therefore it is somewhat churlish to remove the adds , if that is the decision the admin team have made and I say this as the forums leading [ only] Marxist .

If you click the link at the bottom of the page, you can make an ad free site for all of the forum members. The gift will cost you $7, I think, and it will make the adverts go away for a month.

I just don't let them bother me and consequently hardly notice them any more.
I'm grateful that a few ads pay for this excellent forum software, I think it's a good deal. Of course, if anyone wants to gift us ad-free for a while...

Of course, if anyone wants to gift us ad-free for a while... This is a small dilemma of course. Many of us just expect that the internet is or should be free. Not a lot is. We can hardly complain if the price of our entertainment is having to ignore a few adverts. I agree that this is about the best forum software I have played with. Thanks Martin.
