I'll be having a fitting this year. Get used to the Giant again, try out the Shimano shoes with clips, adjust a bit, make sure my left calf and knee doesn't play up Be a right PITA if they say my frame is too big ! Be good to get everything just so, i remember in my younger days, i always bought a bigger frame, 22'inch, going by what i learnt later years, i should have gone for a 20'inch, nowadays i stick to a 50cm max, good luck getting sorted Mike.

Just looked up the latest Giant sizing chart Inside leg now added to height
They still have me as a Large, but 6' dead is a Medium/Large so ..... I'll let you know
One reason I wanted the Large was the extra handlebar width. 'Course now it seems slightly to wide .....

Maybe the Giant sizing chart averages out a 6 footers torso, so they will recommend a large for a longer top tube, even if you are 6 foot tall not all 6 footers have the same dimensions, some are leggier than others. Can you not change the bars to something else?, i go for short reach shallow drops now, i find the traditional drops not suitable for me as i have lost some flexibility in my lower back.

The stem flips to allow some adjustment I'll get more used to it. Thicker shoes next which will mean the saddle comes up
Perhaps the fitting needs to be sooner rather than later
I'm surprised at how my position changed and how my body adapted.

Yes, as we grow, the heads down balls out dynamic position is no longer suitable, i must say i loved my days from the Alan 979 Duralinox through to my last Fondriest, back them i used a 10cm stem with traditional Cinelli road bars trying to achieve that Pro position, but now i am at one with my Surly Crosscheck 48cm with 80mm stem through to Bontrager VRS bars, more upright position and short/shallow drops just to change hand position and not on the drops at any length of time, not the lightest of bikes but hell, i've got panniers and mudguards, who've thought i would get those. P.S. i am trying to do the same with my Dahon Hammerhead funny bike, converting it to drops and all,i have my Surly as blueprint.

I went the other way ! Had a longer stem for my Holdsworth fitted many years ago The Giant is heads down. Felt odd for a the first few trips, but it does incite me to go faster

Didn't want to thread crap Mike's Music Box thread, what are peeps view of Turbo Trainers?, i bought one to continue spinning indoors while the Dreich Scottish weather takes hold but never got on with it, tried it initially just hooked up, find it boring, tried it with tunes with headphones, find it boring, feels like jogging in a way,(sorry joggers) besides sweat just drips everywhere although a towel over the top tube helps,on the whole it's not cycling as it's meant to be, what are others view on these contraptions?.

Better than nowt.
Music on loud is good
Some sort of catcher for all the sweat. Near an open window or door best
I have a TACX I haven't used to a few years now
You can get nice pedal rhythmn

Cycling and playing tennis and beating all the young guns at it round here keeps me young:) Putting in the hard yards and improving, fitness, stroke making and reading of the game etc must help too. I always feel that whilst you are learning something and improving there is hope. My dad learned to windsurf at 54. Ok he was a good sailor, but he got really good at windsurfing.

I was a runner before the knee got wrecked. Cycling is good
I like the getting in the zone - bit like a great groove, repetitive dance music

I worked with a guy at Leicester University for a while who got into riding with a single fixed gear and no freewheel. Pared down ultralightweight. Took him quite a while to master it and meeting the tarmac a few times during the learning process. Forget to pedal and boom! you're off.
