So who is gong to order a time piece that lasts just 18 hours between charge and has a 10 second display time? Would you be seen dead or alive with one around your wrist?

Not me but then I don't wear a watch. Also don't have a mobile phone. If I did want either a phone or a smart watch I would buy an Apple machine in the same way I use Mac computers. They suit me, the way I think and work. The same way that what you use suits you.
The constant Apple bashing is just a relic from the good old days of Windoze versus MacOs. You choose your poison - end of story. Still, it has filled few column inches over the years.

I "don't get" the watch thing as they have to be hooked up to your phone. As a standalone device,no problem but why not just take yer phone out yer pocket? Bit of a pose thing going on really.
On a separate Apple note a pal of mine has just started with them as head of "special products".... Wonder what he'll be working on?

Not exactly beautiful jewellery, is it?
Still, at least the dorks who are prepared to queue for days on end, and pay the outrageous price, to have one will wear the easily spotted marque around their wrist.

I was waiting fro my wife to finish her ablutions in the Supermarket and wandered over to a watch seller. I couldn't believe that outrageous prices for junk jewellery. Ugly as sin and look as if the would weigh the arm down to the ankle. This is for what is just a watch although some did have the word chronometer in bold type. Compared with most of these, yes Martin, the Apple watch is rather beautiful jewellery. Not for me, I wouldn't be seen dead with either the bling trash I saw today or the rather pointless Apple watch.
If I do wear a watch, it is an old Timex I got for my 21st birthday. Slim, discrete and tells the time. It has a second hand that goes round but that is the only additional toy and all that any watch really needs. If you want to see a dork, try watching someone wearing a Diesel watch. About ten feet across, fifteen dials telling god knows what in figures too small to read and saying look at this prat who thinks he is cool.

I still have my 21st birthday watch from my Dad (a Pulsar) but sadly it no longer works.

I was given my Dad's 21st birthday watch when I was a kid. It took me about a week to lose it!

Apple Watch . . . what's that then, loads of folk peering into a barrel looking at apples?
My Dad has left me his Omega flying watch he used to wear as a pilot in the RAF, needs a service and new face glass, but I'm going to treasure that more than any nonsense bling. It must be around 50 years old now?
