Hi all -
I'm looking to purchase a cd player to accompany my amp and record player. I hardly play cds these days, so was just looking for something fairly cheap, but still half-decent. Any recommendations appreciated.

Or a Pioneer "stable platter" model, upgradable with an external DAC later if you should so wish.

Indeed, MikeMusic is quite taken with the Pioneer Stable Platters and has picked up a few eBay bargain examples.

For cheap but good sound quality get the cheapest Sony Blue Ray player and then use this hifimediy.com/DACs/usb-dac2 it take awhile for the DAC to burn in but will create decent music you have to spend another couple of hundred to beat

Athough they are a bit limited in some respects, the Arcam Alpha and Alpha plus usually sell for fifty quid on EBay and make really good music IMO. There's something about good TDA1541 players that just sounds "right" to me.
