John, A set of velvet pads improve the sound are much more comfortable if listening for a while. The pleather pads are sweaty and create hot spots on yer ears.

IS that the sticker that says "do not remove" that you removed John? Or is it the whole ring of paper under the pad? Have them now, sound better than expected. The Velour pads are MUCH bettr. Got my Bushmaster Dac in today, so thats the work/gaming PC set up for audio. Nice. Do I need windows 8.1 drivers for the Bushmaster? It plays out the box, but its not recognised in Windows Audio as anything and Jriver doesn't see it. Thanks.

I remove the whole shebang-foam circle and paper(do not remove) leaving the drive unit fully visible behind its plastic protective frame. Mind and give them a few hours to burn in-maybe 100 plus to settle down.

Cheers Tony, They are sounding great already.
Noticed a lift in treble and mids taking off the "acoustic dampner" sticker. Sounded better for it too.

Do I need windows 8.1 drivers for the Bushmaster? You shouldn't do, both the Bushmaster and Caiman just plug-and-play for me.
EDIT: presume you mean USB? I don't use USB any more, but S/PDIF optical works nicely into my motherboard.

Can you remember what the Dac showed up in Windows as?
I've a "Spdif digital audio" entry under windows playback devices and it plays ok, but the DACs not found in Jriver. Usually a seperate entry in that for an external Dac?

I can't remember, sorry. I do know that S/PDIF sounds better than USB on my machine.
When I tried JRiver it comprehensively buggered my Windows sound setup, meaning it had to be always running for all sounds to work properly. I tend to uninstall such cack software with extreme prejudice, so now it's gone!

Fair point Jammy, but depends what I do with my computer... Good but budget headphones and a second hand Dac/headlamp. (Or headamp even...) sorted. just a couple of little things to configure and I'm sorted.

The drivers are quite large and required quite a bit of time to settle down....mind and lubricate the sound with some kentucky hi fi juice-lets you tune in and tune out!!!
