I recently bought the Raspberry Pi I have managed to put the case together and have also managed to get Volumino on the SD card I am having a boot up issue which is probably due to me missing something simple It says pi@volumino and tried voumino.local to access but get command not found

I sometimes have trouble connecting via the web GUI. A more trustworthy method, rather than using volumio.local - and assuming you're using a Windows machine - is to go to the 'Network' tree on the left hand side of the file browser, and if everything has worked correctly you should see 'volumio:root' listed under Media Devices (you might need to refresh the devices). If you right click on this and select 'View device webpage', it will access the Pi via it's IP address, which tends to be more reliable than volumio.local. An alternative to this is to find the IP address by logging into your router, and the simply entering it into the address bar of your browser, but obviously this is slightly more hassle.

Cheers Unfortunately when I get to stuff like command prompt I get very quickly out of my depth. I tried media devices and can only see my own computer. I keep trying and go back to Martin instructions to see what else I can do

Oh you shouldn't need to do anything at the command prompt if all you're trying to do is to access the Pi via the web GUI. If it's not on the list of media devices then try rebooting it and check again - is there anything under the 'Computer' header on Network? - it should also register the Pi there as 'Volumio'. If after rebooting it's still not appeared under Media Devices, track down the IP address by logging into your router (I assume the Pi is connected to the network via ethernet?). Your router should give you a list of connected devices, and it will list the Pi under 'Volumio', click on that and it will give you the IP, which you can then use in the browser to access the Pi via the web GUI. If Volumio isn't listed by your router then it's not on the network and something has gone wrong. In this case, probably easiest just to reflash the micro SD card and try again.

Having just reread your first post, I think I misunderstood! If you're seeing pi@volumio then obviously you're using the command prompt, in which case, you won't need to use 'volumio.local' - this is the address to use in your web browser to access the Pi via the web GUI. If you want to configure Volumio (e.g. add a NAS share) and play music, use volumio.local in your web browser address bar, if you want to configure the Pi (e.g. overclock) then you need to use the command prompt.

No probs - sorry it's not helped! The instructions for accessing your router will most likely be printed on a sticker on its underside - it'll have a network address and the username/password - usually Administrator/admin. If you're seeing pi@volumio but you don't have the Pi's IP address, then am I right in guessing that you've connected a screen? There's no need to do this really - you can do everything you need to do via the web GUI on your regular computer - whatever browser you're using now, try putting volumio.local in the address bar - and using Putty.

I understand you've got into Volumio ok, John? The pi@ prompt only shows if you have an HDMI TV connected or have remoted in using PuTTY.
Use the Volumio web interface to configure everything, you don't need PuTTY yet.

I think that some of links in the radio streams are no longer active, so a few of them won't work in any case. I know that the 'Metal Only' stream is definitely active, if you want to test
