I've noticed on some speakers an additional banana socket or wire clamp output intended to earth a speaker's drivers metal parts, what potential benefit, if any, does this provide? Is there anyone out there who does this?

I do it, as the terminal is there, and I thought I'd try it out. Can't say I noticed a difference, but I left them earthed in any case, since that was simpler than removing the cable.

Sounds insane enough to work ! Most things in the audio hobby are insane They only start to become insane when an audiophile gets involved. Tannoy will have sound technical reasons for doing it
