Ayup chaps and chappesses... I've been listening to lots of music recently and it's been blissful not having to endure reams of agenda led drivel from a small minority who like to spoil it for the rest of us decent folk who happen to inhabit the various online hifi communities. Life's just too damn short, and there is way too much excellent music to discover and enjoy, to worry about who's swingin' the biggest 'schlong' in town!!! Remember folks, it's what sounds good to YOU that really matters, regardless of whether 'X' piece of equipment cost a Kerzillion dollars or, perhaps, is worth no more than the equivalent value of a handful of Monkey Nuts!!! If it makes you happy then sod whatever anyone else says... p.s. We do indeed have a couple of pooches Mike, both are rescue dogs. One is a Shar Pei called Bella and t'other is a wee Jack Russell who's name is Pepper, and they are both adorable Bella is due an op on Tuesday as the poor girl is suffering from Entropia. For those who don't know, in simple terms she is suffering from 'in-growing eyelashes', at least that is how it was described to me... Pepper, bless her heart, recently developed a Hernia so she'll be paying the vet a visit pretty soon as well... ^^

When we got Gizmo and Lily the dental bill came as a very large shock. Their teeth really were a state. Giz had 14 out !
The charity we got them through said they would pay, but I didn't like taking so much the money from a charity so I said halve it then thought and said halve it again. Still feel odd that they paid us, but they should have had a vet look at them.

My other half works voluntarily for a local dog rescue organization and it is their policy not to re-home a dog until any pre-existing medical conditions are properly sorted, which is as it should be. Most pet rescue concerns are well run and do this as a matter of course, but tragically there are a few out there which buck the trend to the detriment of the animal. We have fostered a few victims of badly run rescue organizations and you would not believe the state in which some of them have arrived at our door, them having been in the hands of an alleged 'professional' carer, it is very distressing to witness. In a couple of cases the dogs were in such bad shape they had to be euthanized, which made our blood boil. In one recent case a Bull Mastiff, which had been liberated from a dog fighting circle by an outfit in Oxfordshire, was described as having been castrated. "So, what are those dangling between his rear legs then", says the missus when she arrived to pick up the old boy, "Scotch Mist?" 0.0

Good on her She must see a lot Must be heart breaking to rescue and them put to sleep. I think these guys hearts are in the right place and there was a degree of embarrassment about the dental work needed.
They had been part of a pack of 11 kept in a small flat in atrocious conditions we were told

Indeed, it is utterly heart-breaking...
I am sure you are right Mike however I have a slight concern that the problem wasn't picked up during the dogs initial assessment session. At the very least I would have thought the condition affected the poor pooches ability to eat properly. Anyway, the important thing is they are now with a family which lavishes love and attention on them, which is all any dog could ask for
Our Bella is due out of surgery shortly and by all accounts things have gone well, so we can stop fretting now. The vet who performed the op is bloody good by the way. My missus happened to mention to him that Bella would need spaying fairly shortly during the initial consultation. He's taken the initiative and spayed her while he had her on the operating table, at no extra charge. Top man!!!

Don't think I could manage that. Our vet said that Giz must have had problems eating - possibly exaggeration as I heard this 2nd hand - he was surprised he ate at all. Both the newbies are really great, sometimes a pain, but treasures both. That's great you had the spaying done at the same time, for free I can hardly grasp. I'm sure we paid full whack for each and every tooth
