Only me! But seriously, in the past I've found this aspect of forum life a little dangerous, as I'm still relatively new to all of this, and a year or two ago I was not sufficiently well versed in the various shades of HiFi-BS, and paid too much heed to the wrong people :/

These days I even take my own experiences with a pinch of salt. There have been a few items which have Impressed me in years gone by and yet have fallen flat when I've revisited them. There can be a number of reasons for this:
Perhaps my tastes have changed? The thing is, I still consistently like a lot of kit that I always have, so this seems less likely. The same would go with changing hearing although I can't rule it out.
Perhaps differences are down to a change of room? Quite likely, as I've taken systems when ive moved house and the magic has been completely lost. Likewise system matching. Some items just fly when put together. Try another combination and the magic is again lost.
I still love reading other people's views and genuinely appreciate and value differences in perception. There is also lots to learn in terms of overlapping tastes. Some people seem to like many of the things I do, whilst others seem to have very different likes and needs. You can often use such things to get an idea of whether it might be worth trying something.
If those who are perhaps too prescriptive just took a step back and offered their experience without the need to have others follow it to the letter, I feel forums would be a far healthier and also a more beneficial place. Sometimes those with the strongest opinions also have lots of experience to share. i just hope for a more tolerant environment, I guess. I'm really liking the vibe here, in that respect.
