Hello peeps, just popping in to say hello, but looking at the membership here I guess most will know me by now (be that good or bad!). Nice job guys and I look forward to contributing in the future, but I have a lot of plates to spin right now, so don't have a lot of spare time. If you don't know me I am primarily a music fan, especially live music. I love just about everything and I'm not comfortable hanging a label on music, if I like it, I like it whatever it is. Right now I favour American roots/country/folk music or what some might call Americana, but you really can't pigeon hole it. Female vocal and acoustic is especially dear to me. I am also a file based audio fan, although I do have a Garrard 401 currently waiting to be put into service when I have the time

Fantastic to see you here, Tim, and great to see that hard disk avatar again.
I look forward to when you can contribute, but I understand completely about this being a bad time. Hopefully you'll be able to bolster our file-based wealth of information and give us some hints and tips.

Hopefully you'll be able to bolster our file-based wealth of information and give us some hints and tips. Yes, I hope to as well Martin. I think most people still think of a computer as just that 'a computer' but in my limited experience you need to adjust that mindset and view it as an audio playback system and treat it like that, paying careful attention to power and the task it needs to perform, i.e. playing music and nothing else. Viewing it as 'a computer' is not ideal IMO, yes it will play music and you can use it for other things too, but view it solely as a playback source and configure it accordingly and the results can be very rewarding for less than the price of a high-end cartridge. Of course there's no theatre and nothing to admire so it won't suit all, but I just like to hear good music which is enough to keep me happy Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to seeing the site bloom.
