Yes real hip hop once existed. For me it was De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and a small handful of others, it was real human magic. But money came along and closed all of that down too.
When Eminem came along he was dubbed "The Great White Hope" for hip hop. But it was already dead and not even Eminem could bring it back.

Oh no problem, I once thought Rebecca DeMornay was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. And a very serious actress.
On this track, the way Eminem and the devils voice melt into one and how the devil reminds Slim that "...isn't that us on that poster?" is chilling because it works as a metaphor for how many stars needed to align for Eminem.

Wow. You know there's a scene in a film called Natural Born Killers, where the song is by Leonard Cohen, called 'Waiting For The Miracle'. It's perfection, the song combined with the scene feels like a force of nature and his voice almost doesn't sound human in there.

100% understandable, Martin. I think his target was the young men in those days, and I fell into that crowd back then and so was hooked for life.
But having said that, I don't know that I've ever witnessed a gift so potent, and a world so possessed by it, from an individual artist aside from maybe Michael Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elvis (though I can't be sure), David Blaine, Martin Lawrence.
I do feel lucky though to have witnessed his career. It felt like magic.

Eminem - My Darling
I followed most of his career and it is a sort of fairy tale of the depths he came from, receiving an unusual amount of tools for his craft. Rhyming words that you wouldn't expect, rapidly, with bizarre laser precision enunciation. The look, the humor, the lack of fear of offending people, an alignment with hip hop royalty Dr. Dre, the creation of an alter ego named Slim Shady that every young male on Earth seemed to fall in love with. I was in my 20's when Eminem blew up and no one in any circles I knew of denied Slim Shady. I'd argue that he became the most famous person in the world at one point.
By the time this song was released Eminem was a prisoner of his own fame. I don't know of any actor, aside from maybe Leonardo DiCaprio who couldn't go anywhere without causing mass hysteria (Sharon Stone spoke of this in an interview calling it sad). On the album the song after this one is amazing as well called 'Careful What You Wish For'.
For a true Eminem fan, obsessed years ago with recordings of him in hotel rooms and clubs and street corners slaying other rappers before he was known worldwide, the 11/10 execution here of the "a deal with the devil" concept is 100% spot on.

1000%. The present set of conditions show no chance for success. And you can't see a solution.
Don't give up, wait it out because the conditions may change and if they do you may very well find that what you need for success.

Lol and thanks for input fellows. And stop me if you've heard this one but how about a taxi cab beeping 5 times for a neighbor next door at 4am?
Unnecessary? Around here I normally see them beep once, if that, sometimes a call is placed, and be on their way. This one is Liam Neeson.

Maybe someone can set me straight here but it actually bothers me, for just a moment, when purchasing a bottled water or Soda and the cashier grabs it by the area around the bottle cap. Grimey fingers fresh off of their phone and keyboard.
I wouldn't be caught dead handling anyone's drink by the top.
I do feel ashamed to by bothered by this when truthfully I know that every square millimeter around us is covered in humanity. But this one is just annoying as hell while on my period I suppose.

Wooah. Fancy guy, huh? I'm glad to hear this. And a bit jealous. I've read the stuff from Japan is the only way to go. Mine is a powder ordered from Amazon, though I don't believe it's from Japan. Will check again.
Would you mind at some point leaving your impression of the high grade stuff here somewhere on the forum?

Ever heard of Matcha green tea, Paul? It contains an antioxidant called a catechin, specifically epigallocatechin gallat in this case (EGCG) which triggers a hormone called cholecystokinin (CCK) which the body releases when food contacts the upper large intestine...Possible health benefits...
"...it contains antioxidants that help boost levels of cholecystokinin (CCK), a hunger-suppressing hormone that also stimulates the digestion of fat and protein. Drinking matcha green tea daily curbs the appetite, promotes weight loss, improves immune function, and increases energy."
I drink a boat load of it, including right now. It's nearly as thick as soup.

Ahh yes, I'd forgotten about that one. I think I've read that the Josh Brolin version is a remake, though very good.
I started 'The Jacket' yesterday got halfway, it's quite gripping. Will finish that tonight and see if I can find 'Old Boy'.

Have been to theater 3 nights in a row now.
Don't Breathe 2 - Awesome Thriller, possibly better than the 1st one. If you like "ass kicking time" then he will MAKE time for kicking ass, apparently.
The Night House - Very good. Good Director (The Ritual) + Rebecca Hall for a potent mix.
Old - Awful. Walked out. Anyone find M. Night's output bizarre?
After seeing 'The Happening' I can't guage his films objectively anymore I guess. He had a few good ones there and then fell off of a cliff imo. With this one I was just looking at the screen perplexed, every moment feels like a device used to remind the audience of what the premise is. And I don't blame the actors.
'Old', moreso than with other trainwrecks of his, seems like he fell in love with the premise he's dreamt up, and then uses every scene to repeatedly reinforce what it is. After the 37th scene used to remind me that people are indeed getting older at an accelerated rate and how mind-blowing that is, I'd decided I'd gotten the gist, even if I'd missed something important at the end.
Wonderfully imaginative name for the film too. A film about accelerated aging, call it 'Old'.

Do try The Jacket, it's worth tracking it down. Will check today. It's $1.99 on Prime video. Actually the lowest price I've seen yet for any rental there. Could anyone name a handful of movies released in last 20 years they'd pay extra to have a chance to see in the theater, with that great sound. The Lighthouse, War Of The Worlds, In The Earth, Kill Command, Deepwater Horizon, Behind Enemy Lines. I'd pay triple to see any of these and each of them imo is worth catching just for the sound alone. Deepwater Horizon sound design is impressive.

Please Martin stay away from JumboTron youtube "Big Booty Buttcheeks" lady. You'll be sorry. The song will enter your mind and create a home there, just loitering about.
I spoke to a woman once at a reception desk who could clearly see my distress at her outfit. I think she gave me a chance and I was too stupid to know it.

I know a couple, they've been trying to convert me since 2012. I've been to tons of gatherings and church events. I'm further away now from believing than at the start.
What bothers me is they'll have children one day and they will get to work on those little minds before those minds have a chance to think for themselves. That's the trick.
Don't try to better understand our surroundings or be a team player by adding to humanity's knowledge.
Just memorize this book and recite these lines, to save yourself. Don't concern yourself with this life, its just a test. Go through these motions and you'll get an even better life after.
Sounds like pure genius. It's like getting a cake on your birthday and asking about a second cake with your mouth full.

George supported those left behind to take the Brunt of the bombings? Those rich that left should have been exposed when trying to throw their weight around when they returned.
George fought a fight with the ones left behind at a critical hour.
Couldn't find a thread for this. I almost can't believe that religious and non religious people occupy the same planet. I can, knowing that religion has been passed down from adult to impressionable child through programming for thousands of years. Otherwise it could never survive any type of scrutiny, is my guess.
But watching people bicker about it in comments sections looks so futile and endless with nothing gained on either side.

I've just found a Dylan clip from the era that I went to see him. If you like this, you're from a different planet than me. Ghastly. I suppose songwriting is the biggest concern for the artist. But for the listener, well, alot rides on to what extent they can endure/sit through the performance.
