Do one for you no problem mate, trouble is I'd struggle to do it for 20 quid by the time i've bought the plugs and the cable, what with postage costs as well.

For instance, the Jungsson JA-D 88 (I think it is) is touted as a Class A amp, and it is, but only for about 6W, not the quoted 30 or 40w or whatever they claim.

I seem to recall reading that the first 12 or so watts were class A and thereafter class A/B ? Depends on the design. To do SS Class A in high powers requires massive heatsinking though, the amp will produce huge amounts of heat. Think massive Krell monblocks and the like.

Iain M. Banks - Surface Detail
A wonderful final Culture novel with an incredibly action-packed finale. Big picture because I'm still mourning his passing.
Wonderful indeed Martin, but not the final Culture novel, that is The Hydrogen Sonata.

Yep, great series. Another favourite of mine is Peter Hamilton. Not read a dud from him yet.

Not really. I agree the Sci-Fi channel series were pretty good though.

Good stuff John, hopefully I'll get a similar improvement.

Yes, seems to help with a slight thickening in upper bass/ lower mid, so worthwhile hopefully.

Yes, have discussed that with Nick in the past. I thought of building a rigid frame that would clamp the drivers at the rear, all of this would be decoupled from the baffle.
A similar rationale led me to wanting to try acrylic baffles though. Having heard acrylic OB's before, they are superior to a ply/wood baffle.

Yes, have heard these drivers in a couple of different speakers, they are indeed very nice and I'm confident they will be a big improvement over the B200.
Just need to find a suitable place to have the baffle holes cut, don't want to do it myself in case I break them. 20mm acrylic is not cheap.

Yes, have to agree John, love my OB's and I would find it difficult to go back to a box speaker. I will be making changes to mine sometime soon, I have a pair of A12p which will take the place of the B200's currently in use, and have bought two sheets of 20mm acrylic for baffle duties. I'll be keeping the pair of Eminence 15" bass helpers per channel for the time being but may try some Betas in the future.
I use a miniDSP active crossover, a great bit of inexpensive kit, it can be plugged into your laptop and different crossovers can be demoed on the fly. I've settled on 4th order LR at 200hz, exactly where I was advised to go by Scott Lindren, he wasn't wrong!
Bass is driven with a Bantam Gold, 200hz up is currently either with a KEL 84 or 300b PSE monoblocks.
As you say, a great sounding speaker can be build for relatively little outlay.
