It's that time of year again where my mind turns to how I can live a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle. I became a vegetarian 6 years ago and feel much healthier for it. Problem is I really don't have the imagination to live this lifestyle, and my diet has been fairly limited in this area. Any links to tasty, easy to cook, welcome I've also struggled to move away from dairy and I think this should be one of my goals this year. I like milk in my coffee and butter on my toast. I also love all kinds of cheese. Today I bought some oat milk and I will probably start using it in my coffee, in my cereal, and in my smoothies. So that's the milk craving sorted. Now I need a healthy alternative to butter and cheese. I know our Mike has been Vegan for many years and will have a host of recipes and alternatives to eating meat and dairy so I'm hoping to tap into that fountain of knowledge. Paul also seems to be quite adept and finding tasty alternatives to meat , and I'm pretty sure there will be others on here who have lots of knowledge in healthy options. I would hope to take advice on all areas of a healthy diet which will not only benefit me, but others on the forum too. Oh...I also live with a wife and daughter who eat meat, although the more my daughter educates herself in this area the further she moves away from eating meat. I would rather cook a vegetarian/vegan meal which everyone (including the other fussy members of the family) will eat, rather than cook two separate meals, which does happen quite often. The other area I'm looking at is intermittent fasting. Any ideas on this also welcome.

I was told that when you eat a stock of celery for example. There are nutrients that can't be broken down within the structure that your body might not be able to absorb, juicing really breaks it all down and can be absorbed. Not sure if that's true. But one benefit is you dint have to sit there and chew carrots for half an hour. Just liquify them into a tasty drink along with other ingredients. Oh...forgot about carrots

They're a nice breakfast drink Mike and with the right ingredients can be rather healthy. TBH I will have a 'healthy' smoothie any time of the day.

Aye that's why I bought the Breville unit Paul and then I moved up to the Nutribullet. Just a word of warning ..if you use Chia seeds in your smoothies you have to consume almost straight away, otherwise you will be eating it with a knife and fork Thanks for the link for the honey Paul, I'll have a look.

The cheaper units don't temd to make a true smoothie, they can leave the drink a little bit lumpy. They're all noisy I think.

Haha that's cool. Put together a committee I'd like to see what can be done about the taste of strawberries. They're good, maybe a little too good for their own good. The smoothie from night was not tasty at all but the texture was great I think because of the banana but also if you see how thick a celery smoothie its quite nice. Brian mentioned peanut butter in a smoothie. Of I could find low sugar peanut butter, in fact I'll look today, I'd try it immediately. I wonder if we could have a smoothie or juicing thread. There are so many combinations to try, someone may get it right. I will drive to the market today for those chia seeds. I'll have to research how processed are they. Aye a smoothie or juicing thread might provide some ideas and motivation to us all

Just ordered bananas, a selection of frozen berries, cherries, chia seeds, goji berries, rolled oats, plain Greek yoghurt, and oat "milk," (no sugar, no sweeteners), plus pure raw "Sweet Field Honey," for a bit of sweetness. I really like Honey - I always sweeten my green tea with it - and it has a range of positive health effects too. I've not liked any " store-bought," smoothie I've tried. TBH they've all tasted as if a bunch of people got together to work out how to ruin the taste of bananas. Twenty quid for one of these.... smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DGLUW4E/ and we'll see if my own attempts fare any better. I had one of those Breville smoothie makers Paul, and they are decent, but these www.amazon.co.uk/NUTRiBULLET-600-Nutrient-Extractor-Graphite/dp/B01N27W15O/ref=sxin_14?asc_contentid=amzn1.osa.a2c82738-bdff- are much better. I've just took mine out the cupboard and ordered bananas, frozen berries, and smooth peanut butter. I'm also going to treat myself to some honey. Porridge oats also works for me. Chia seeds already in cupboard,

If you see someone walking towards you without a smile, give them one of yours. A little civility costs nothing and comes with it's own rewards. I always greet people when I'm out and about. The other day I was talking to a very sprightly lady who told me she was 80 years old. She went for a brisk walk every day and looked marvellous for her age. TBH, I'm interested in people and their stories. Just being nosey ? Dunno, but I'm not going to stop doing it Good luck with the dating. The right person will come along eventually

This is the second one I've had John and this one will be staying in the system. Works beautifully with Spotify and the Audiolab 6000CDT.

I have the FX Audio DAC-X6 and it's very good for the £70 asking price. Rolling the opamp also makes a marked difference. Don't know if the opamps can be changed in this one. Looks good though.
TBH, though, I've just reintroduced an old friend into my system, the original Rega DAC, and it's in a different league to all the budget DACs I've tried over the last 10 years.

Lol, you'll have to change your name to 'overweight' Slinger next year Paul. The last time I ordered Honey Roast Almonds (smallest size) from them they lasted 2 days. So I ordered the bigger size this time

I've bought the Honey Roasted Almonds a couple of times after your recommendation Paul (Amazon) What a treat. I will probably buy some things for Christmas now, from their site. Thanks mate Just ordered some Honey Roasted Almonds and some mixed nuts from their site. I doubt very much if they'll last to Christmas never mind the New year
