The KEF Blade Two is featured in a comprehensive review in this month's Stereophile (June 2015). John Atkinson rather likes them! Ooh, I have that available through my Zinio portal - I'll have to go and have a read!

Was in Home Bargains last night - noticed some Kettle Chips that were sweet chilli and sour cream. Despite my self imposed crisp ban (after eating 18 packages of Wheat Crunchies during two films), I just had to try them...definitely the best Kettle Chips, along with Mozarella And Pesto.

Thought I'd have a listen to this seeing as I've not heard it for such a long time! And the fact I've pre-ordered the upcoming Deluxe vinyl on Pledgemusic...

Seen Dire Straits live once - I think it was 1987 - they were brilliant, just like listening to Alchemy!

I find that hard to believe. Maybe in 2008 he might've struggled to sell the collection, but surely someone out there in 2015 would pay $3m for it based on its true worth? Hell, if I had the money, I'd buy it!!
And surely the muppet who uses records for flooring would have bought it all? And if he's not interested in acquiring 83% of all the missing music from 1948-1963, then he can't be a genuine collector of music can he?

Despite being a retailer who also sells records, I'm commenting as me, not as a retailer. I'd like to get rid of some CDs I bought over the years that I never play, but I'll get peanuts for them, so it's something I'll never do. I'd never sell stuff I still like. As far as records are concerned, I've been more selective due to the higher cost.

CDs are virtually worthless! To a vinyl collector maybe - bit of a sweeping (dismissive) statement that one - CDs do actually have music on them, which might not be worthless? Of course, having music on them could be seen as valuable, but I'm talking from the point of view of owning a CD collection. The majority of my CDs might fetch 30p each from an online dumping ground like MusicMagpie, or I might get 50p each selling them at a carboot. I could sell them for a pound or so on the 'online forest' (don't really want to promote them), but the effort to do so makes it pointless, particularly when you take into account how much you could spend on packaging. So in my opinion, and based on the amount of albums you can buy on CD online for virtually nothing (many for a penny, plus postage), CD is a worthless format. Funnily enough, I've been looking around today to pick some albums up from Alva Noto (after checking them out when someone on here mentioned them), and I'm struggling to find anything under a tenner, with most being about £15-20. As I say, always seems to be stuff I want to buy!

It's always the ones that can afford large collections that never look after them...makes me sick. I mean, who the hell would stand on their records?! That's like a big FU to vinyl enthusiasts everywhere! Actually if you read the (New York Times) article that the photo originated from, you'll see that he has a deep love and respect for records. He had 30,000 discs by the time he was 30 and now, athough he has an irrational desire to buy them, he has a team of people cleaning, photographing and cataloguing them. A job estimated to take 20 years....if he stops buying them now. He is setting up a public music library and his main focus is to save records that would otherwise not be known about in countries like Nigeria from being lost forever. I've not read the piece, but not standing on them is one of the very basics of vinyl care, in my opinion! Standing on them is about the same level as using them as frisbees.

I'd be surprised if the collection would actually fetch much more than £100,000...CDs are virtually worthless! (Except for the ones I want to buy, oddly)

These are the ones...Tidal Sunray. They do claim force cancelling though... Just found out - $155,000/pair!! I see see a few issues holding them back, but maybe I'm just biased

The blades look fine to me. However, they do have some stiff competition. In my case my big Usher Be-20s are 2/3 their price and have superb overall performance. They also look nice, but in a more substantial presentation. I'd still love to hear the Blades. It would be interesting to pitch against certain speakers. I can't remember the make and model, but I did see a speaker that were bigger than the Blades, but had side firing bass drivers, with the mid and HF on the front. They didn't use coincident/concentric drivers, and as far as I could tell they didn't use force cancelling, but it'd be interesting all the same, as I'm sure their price ticket is far higher than the Blades. If I find out which speaker it is, I'll post up a pic.

I'm sure they are very nice, the shortcoming is mine. Not a shortcoming, just a preference. Some like boxes, some like curves. Some like skinny, some like fat. Same with anything in life, there's always options, which will always guarantee preferences.

I am obviously the product of brainwashing, but I prefer my speakers to look like they are beautiful cabinets. Even so thanks for showing me them, very interesting. Brainwashing? The Reference range below the Blades uses more conventional box type cabinets with wood veneer, which I suppose more people will consider furniture-like. Blades purposely don't use conventional boxes in order to greatly reduce, and in some cases eradicate, many issues that plague boxes. Of course, when something is designed for performance over looks, it will never be to everyone's taste.
