A garrard 401 needs a good arm for sure, whether removable headshell or not. Not a Rega IMO though!

I think an arm with a detachable headshell is very useful, spare headshells can have other carts on to allow easy changing of carts when the mood takes you.

I had a 401 for many years, various arms were in residence but I ended up with a 12" Jelco finally before I sold it, it depends how big your plinth is I suppose as small ones won't take a 12" arm, there is a 10" if you already have a platter then it may be just a case of cutting a new armboard for it. The 12" SME is great 3012 I think it is if not mistaken, some come up on ebay now and then.

The pictures were before listening guys, chill out! I had to wait a say for Nat to reply to my e-mail as I forgot the tracking force of doms cart. Its 1.8-2.3g according to Nat. Perhaps one of you wants to call round tomorrow and set the VTA for me? lol
Just setting the system up for real now for a session tomorrow, Nicks latest 2 box MM phono stage, music first SUT and pre-amp, 300b's, and the speakers just came back from hi-fi world so result all round.
A bit of new vinyl also appeared yesterday.

Looks good, David. Interesting wooden headshell from Isokinetik. Nice black arm What's the wooden bit doing ? I suppose I could paint it black with a marker pen!

When Karl told me he had been to Japan to have a new arm and headshell made to his own specification I ordered one straight away without asking the price as I knew Koetsu made a rosewood and magnesium head shell that costs about £800 or maybe more now who knows! This headshell is seriously good, Doms cart fits perfectly.

Just finished a SLIC tonearm cable, trouble is I cannot listen to it as my silver wired Jelco was the wrong colour, I ordered black and they sent me silver so I am waiting for the black one to arrive tomorrow then plumb it all in and see if it makes a noise! I use Photoshop when this happens. Dave LOL funny Dave!

I am highly amused now, what will all the 100's of Bushmaster DAC owners do now that Stan has launched something better supposedly?
Is it powered by a wall wart as standard?
No USB Martin, sacrilege! lol
