Cheers Jules... I'm hanging fire until you report back on the Nessie. I have plenty of the Tonar cleaner, so please don't think you're under any pressure Well I wouldn't rush to buy the Nessie fluid. I cleaned a batch with it today and first impressions are not good at all. After cleaning I noticed that the sound was bit muddy - checked my stylus to find it was picking up loads of crud from the grooves - not good. That has never happened before - maybe it needs another rinse with purified water but I can't be bothered with that lark. On another lp I noticed way too much snap, crackle and pop - gave it another clean with The Right One and it was nearly entirely silent. Most records get extremely clean with just one dose of Right One, if I think the vinyl is really dirty I give it another ... Thanks Jules... I still have half a bottle of the Tonar cleaner, so once that gets close to empty, I'll be ordering The Right One

You could all club together and do a Clearaudio group buy if that helps. I will order as big a container as they supply and decant it all for each person who wants some. Next to Paul's fluid its probably the best. I'd be up for that David... it'd also give me the chance to settle up with you for the Roskan DAC/PSU din power lead you sent me

I'll be praying to the record cleaning gods tonight that David's phone rings tomorrow with good news from Paul Zilch! Anyway I have Mofi's full range of fluids at my disposal, sold 100's of bottles of l'art du son not one single complaint, and there is always Clearaudio's fluid to fall back on. That's a shame David... so it looks like the Mofi fluid will be my next tipple. Got around half a bottle of the Tonar left, so once that gets near to the last applicator bottle full, I'll be ordering via the website...

Good to hear Brian, on both counts Not had a need to change my Brian2957 Cables, so glad to hear they are still punching way above their weight Interesting about the MCRU mains cables, I have Mark Grant's excellent DSP2.5 cables throughout, so something would have to be very special for me to replace them.

Apart from the same of approval from Nessie, what made you choose that Jules?

Trust your well Brian and thanks for that... if its better than your own excellent home brew cables, it must be good stuff! Does the RCA cable in particular have a name?

In comparison to the Clearaudio, what other fluids have you used Martin?

There was talk (here?) that MCRU were going to be selling Paul's The Right Stuff... but all has gone quiet on that front. Shame, cos the poor by comparison Tonar fluid I'm using at present will be running out soon. Perhaps DB will see this thread and update us with any progress...

I'm tempted to have a dabble, especially as its £0.99 for three months of Premium... I tried Tidal and wasn't impressed with the interface (web or via Roon) and its high monthly cost, but it seems silly not to try this and see if it tickles my fancy

I suppose it does open and close with a sharp action, but it makes one hell of a non-CD type racket. Silky, smooth and silent are three words which certainly don't make up any part of its vocabulary

Yep, that's the laser I've ordered and the seller assures me it'll fit my DP-1. As for the lack/quality of the innards, as I've posted previously (see the link below) there is embarrassingly little hidden away under the fancy space age case: theaudiostandard.net/post/88777However, when connected to the DA1 DAC/DS1 PSU or my Chord Hugo TT, its sounds damn nice... and is at least as good as my Primare CD31...

If your planning on keeping the DP1, I'd recommend grabbing one of the NOS lasers listed on US eBay. Better to be safe than sorry and for around £45 delivered, its a no brainer, even if you were to sell the transport on
