It's a contact enhancer and it shouldn't be conductive in itself.
However, I have no valves here. Use with caution. I'm surprised at that - I always thought the whole idea of it was to aid the conduction from plug to socket, e.g. like this stuff: link - if it's not conductive itself, how does it work ?

I note MartinT mentions the use of contact enhancer - I rarely see that talked about but I'd have though it might be much more important than many other things including possibly the actual plug. No I don't use it myself.

Defender, built into Windows 10. It's excellent and all you need. Indeed - and it saves you the £40 over eset

They may or may not work depending on the construction of your hifi rack (e.g. wood/metal/glass), and on probably lots of other factors.

Why not buy some spades of the correct size, then solder them onto the too-small spades ? That should give an excellent connection.

Welcome - you've made me jealous because when I lived in Wiltshire (Great Bedwyn) there were loads of hifi shops within easy distance. Now I'm up in Northumberland the nearest is 30 miles away, and the rest are mostly around 100 miles+ .

Why do people who are prepared to spend a goodly percentage of their disposable income on making their hi-fi sound as perfect as possible, i.e. to reproduce, as faithfully as they are able, what the artists, producers, and engineers intend us to hear, not seem bothered about doing the same with their 'home entertainment systems,' for want of a better term?
In my case, because I don't use DVDs, and the sound quality I get from streamed films is nowhere near that of my audio system so not worth spending the money .

We also suffered getting a quote for some minor electrical work, the electrician not turning up to do the work on the day arranged, then telling us that he can't do it unless we also had the consumer unit replaced (£400). (this was all done through one of those 'proper tradesmen' sites - won't use them again, though our main trouble here is finding anyone to even quote for work.

The classic is in Start Trek: If a completely new person turns up (especially for an away mission) you just know the only reason is that he's going to be killed off.

Generally no problem with Amazon and I do use them a lot, but I find their 'next day delivery' is increasingly becoming 'sometime in the next few days' and the last delivery I had was a day late because it had been sent to the wrong distribution centre (though that's probably Royal Mails fault rather than Amazon).

Too many phones and compact cameras process the image badly - to me that means over-sharpened, over-coloured, and over-contrasted so I'll not be using my phone except in emergency.

When DBPowerAmp is installed, it should also have installed an id-tag editor - right-click on any music file and you should see an 'edit ID-TAG' option. Bottom of the edit options is the cover image which you can change/import/whatever. It may be that this is only on the paid version (but to my mind that's worth buying)

Well worth a listen/view, not only to the 100th but all the other weekly episodes.

One might also ask whether dealers should perform free firmware upgrades for those who need them (again only for equipment bought at that dealer) (I'm thinking Cyrus streamers here !!) No, that is straightforward to do from home for most brands, so shouldn't need to be done at a dealers IMHO. but alas, not Cyrus..

I'm all for using a programmable remote like my Logitech 950 - does need a bit of setting up to get the best out of it, but for lazy so-and-so's like me, it does everything and I don't have to get up from my seat to switch from viewing the TV to listening to the stereo etc, and usually by pressing just one or two buttons. Not cheap mind you.

I thought most hifi dealers (and others) spend the majority of their time showing/demonstrating equipment that they're pretty much sure the 'customer' has no intention of buying. So I'd say pester the man in the shop IF you bought it from them, otherwise maybe phone the shop first to see if they'll help but don't be disappointed if they say no.

Don't know if it's age or what, but I don't see much improvement in picture quality of current models, compared to my 6 year old SONY LCD (46 inch). Then again I don't see much difference between SD and HD either, and 4K etc always looks 'artificial' in the showrooms. Is there any hope for me

I should be clear: I would love to make it to 80 but only if my quality of life remains. I have no interest in degenerating into a vegetable or becoming a burden on loved ones. I would hope that applies to most of us. These days I think most people should expect to live to 80 while maintaining reasonable health. When I took out an annuity their calculations suggested that I would live to 89, but maybe they just said that to reduce the payouts ! The best way to increase lifespan is to move - if I moved from Northumberland back to Surrey, surprisingly I'd increase my life expectancy by a couple of years, according to O.N.S. If I did that it would of course wreck my quality of life... life expectancy
