The trouble is, I've read all of the Jo Nesbo's books, and I have a very fixed vision of what Harry Hole is like. Well, without giving away any spoilers, all I'll say is don't set the bar too high! All the best John.

Two of the films (Blu-rays) I'm looking forward to watching in the new year are The Snowman, based on the book by Jo Nesbo, and The Death of Stalin. The clips I've seen from the latter look great, and as for The Snowman, I just hope they don't bugger up the character of Harry Hole. The books are terrific, the film has a lot to live up to, as does Michael Fassbender in the lead role. dont wait for it ,what a let down, imho

Tom Cruise is the reason I avoided the Jack Reacher movie. 4'3" instead of 6'3" and that's only the beginning of the inaccuracies. Perhaps I'll wait until the price drops to under a fiver on Amazon.

No, no. Continue to stay away even at 99 cents.

This is what I said about it first time round... Just had a good chuckle at your write-up, you didn't like it then Our music tastes differ as much as films it seems (apart from BR 2049) - I thought Alien: Covenant was utter unmitigated garbage, but you enjoyed it and now 180 degree differing views on Gone Girl - interesting indeed but I do find it confusing too Pulp Fiction?

Pulp Fiction was good, the two Kill Bills even better, Django fantastic and Inglourious Basterds utterly superb and my favourite Tarantino.

Haha, well there we go - I would actually put your list in reverse order, but I love them all. PF is probably my #1 of all time, but I normally decline to pick a favourite film, far too challenging to single just one out. Much prefer to have 10 titles on cards, chuck them in the air and see which one comes out on top on any given day, but I'd probably put PF in there twice to shorten the odds

Hey, I just thought, we are talking about the Jo Nesbo story, not the Raymond Briggs tale, right?

I do think the downstairs bar scene in Inglourious Basterds is simply superb cinema, though.

Yes, I became a fan of August Diehl, thanks to this movie.
The French farmer at beginning of movie, played by Denis Menochet, also plays a convincing scumbag brother, very nice in the movie Spotless.
