How can you call Sophia Boutella stunning , she's not even blond ,haha. Exactly Exactamundo Martin with bells on, blondes . . . ppish And in answer to "How can you call Sophia Boutella stunning?" Easy answer, because she is. And Kingsman was a great yarn, I really enjoyed it. The second film was good and had I not seen the first I would have enjoyed it more, but it's not as good as the first one.The CGI in the second is very dodgy in places, which considering the budget is surprising. The story is much weaker too. Still a great night out though and it exceeded my expectations

Allies Remarkable only in its crapness. With the lovely Marion Cotillard, I had hoped that this would be watchable. However, Pitt is wooden with no chemistry between the couple, the story is disjointed and the whole production distinctly third rate. Avoid.

Going to see Blade Runner 2049 tonight. It's been a long wait since the original stunner and I hope it doesn't let Philip K Dick or Ridley Scott down.

In two words: utterly magnificent.
Don't read any reviews, just go and see it.

Seeing it at an IMAX this week, then having a go in 3D too - if I like it I'll likely see it 3 or 4 times. I have high hopes after that utter abortion Alien: Covenant, hope he hasn't fooked up the Blade Runner legacy too. I suspect not though with Denis Villeneuve holding the reigns too I've steered well clear of any reviews, just seen the cinema trailers which hopefully haven't given too much away.

The trailers make it seem like an action film. It isn't like that at all. I saw it in 2D as I refuse to have anything to do with 3D.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did, Tim. I still haven't stopped thinking about it. Oh, and the cinema sound system I saw it in was tremendous, too.

Hmmm, I didn't get that from the trailers, I think it's going to be dark and thought provoking, taking time to unravel and requiring more than one viewing to fully understand. Villeneuve does that very well, better than the current Ridley Scott IMHO, who I feel is past his best.
Not to take anything away from his back catalogue, as it stands amongst the best ever, particularity in science-fiction. I just think he's lost the edge he once had . . . a bit like me!

I would proffer The Counsellor, which didn't do very well (but what do the public know), as an example of Ridley Scott still at his very best.
Oh, and I liked both The Martian and Alien: Covenant.
Meant to say: Villeneuve is being lined up for Dune. Now THAT I've got to see before I die!

The Martian is a superb film, but I thought Alien: Covenant was appalling, high amongst my list of the worst films of 2017 and it gives me no pleasure to say that. Alien is in my top five films of all time. I was so shocked at how bad A:C was, I went back a second time thinking I had a bad day, but nope, still awful. Villeneuve doing DUNE, now that does sounds exciting

I've already seen Prometheus and found it a bit average despite being a fan of the whole "Alien" series. So, I must persevere. I've now got the 3D (Martin, stop waving that crucifix at me) Blu-ray with over 7 hours of extras including an alternative beginning and ending and a 3 1/ 2 hour documentary. There's also an app for Android and iOS that you're supposed to synch with the movie for the "ultimate interactive experience" or so it says. I will probably not avail myself of that particular extra. I may be a glutton for punishment but I'm hoping that this version will enhance my enjoyment. Either that or it will put me off completely.

I think that certain films work really well with 3D and surround sound, but not all and I think that is where the problem lies, they try the big bang approach to make themselves more money and it just doesn't work like that.

I liked Prometheus. How could you not, with Noomi Rapace in it?

Yes Prometheus was good without being earth-shattering... I will have to see Covenant to complete the set.

I kind of enjoyed Prometheus, but I had to work at it and it was certainly a stretch. What I can't excuse in both that and A:C, especially A:C is the appallingly bad acting. And astronauts behaving like demented 12 year olds is never going to convince me a film is good. You didn't see Matt Damon running around like a 12 year old crying. If they/he had added a sense of realism, it may have worked. I can excuse a bad plot if the acting is exemplary or vice versa, but when both are bad, the films a doozy, no matter who made it or starred in it. I'm not alone in thinking A:C is a doozy, check out the IMDB reviews. Mark Kermode is a huge Alien/Scott fan and he thought it sucked as well. But he might just save himself if Blade Runner is good, but a cynic might say that's down to Villeneuve Can't wait to see BR 2049 TBH

As I said, I don't go a lot on other people's reviews. My views rarely agree.
There are many for-instances, but just one was Cloud Atlas. In my view, a (slightly flawed) epic that ranks 9/10 on my scale where only half a dozen films rate a 10/10 (BR2049 did). It made me think for days. That's a good film in my book and I couldn't give a monkeys that it tanked at the cinema.
