The Tunnel. Gosh, what an ending. Top, top quality TV drama, up there with the very best.

I watched the first episode of Hard Sun tonight, a new BBC drama serial from Neil Cross, the creator of Luther. I shall be looking forward to episode 2, next Saturday. No spoilers.

I've been watching that End of the F***ing World - it's ok. Good soundtrack as well.

I've been watching Forbrydelsen (The killing), all series. Wonder if it will return, they left it implausibly open. Now onto Bron (The bridge). I'm on the 2nd series. Series 4 is now airing in Sweden apparently. Guess it will be here sooner or later, assuming they pick it up. My Danish has come on leaps and bounds. I can even say whole phrases in a mildly piss take kind of way.
Can't seem to get into UK crime or drama at the moment..

I can't say I notice a great difference between the Swedish and Danish, to be honest EDIT: it's slated as the final series. Hope it doesn't go the way of The Tunnel's ending

Written language wise they are pretty similar / easy enough to read. Spoken is very different. Imagine shortening the vowels to the absolute limit, making everything as muffled and chopped short as possible, then add a few completely different words and put a hot potato in the speakers mouth, and you have Danish

Watching Spiral on BBC Four - not bad but not quite dark enough for my taste ... How do you rate The Bridge? I have it on my Amazon watchlist ...

The Bridge S1-S3 has been superb. Saga is one of those characters that stays with you forever, so well is she portrayed.
If you've missed it, the French series Witnesses S1-S2 is well worth seeing, quite gripping and again well portrayed by the lead actress.

I thought the first series of The killing had a more plausible storyline than series 1 of The bridge. After that's it's a bit equal. The killing was different in that it followed 3 sets of characters, police politicians and victims. Some called it a game changer. The one that got subtitles widely accepted and well and truly proved a subtitled show could be a hit (well not in the USA, but as we have daily proof, things are a little odd there ) They all seem to suffer from the perps having almost unnatural superpowers. Often explained in the perp bring police or ex-police. I guess it helps. Entertaining though.

I have to say I'm really enjoying The Killing - got through 4 ep's already.
Some of the production values aren't the best but doesn't get in the way of a good story.

Hey I did just notice in the first post of the thread the mention of The West Wing.
Stunner of a show imo in a league of it's own. The writing is on another level the characters feel real. It's easily on the list of top 3 TV dramas imo.
I've been looking for an episode for ages where Josh is grilling a young senator, that he is old college buddies with, in a room next to Leo's office.

The West Wing is by far my favourite TV series, and in fact it is where I chose my sons name, Leo. As you say, the writing is superb, although it did tail off a bit after Aaron Sorkin left, think that was around series 5 or 6, you can certainly see the difference, it is good, but not quite as clever.
