Found the same with many series that start off with one outlook and then degenerate into just another TV series
Mentalist was good then lost it bit by bit.

I applaud series that ended on a high: Six Feet Under, Battlestar Galactica, Travelers, The Leftovers. Some, like Firefly, never even got the chance. It's bloody annoying when networks cancel, of "fail to renew" series that are (and I've taken flak for this in the past, but I still believe that it's true) " too intelligent" for mainstream U.S. audiences to cope with continuously. I remain shocked that Babylon 5 got all the way through to its series 5 conclusion. American audiences don't want to, or are incapable of, following a plot arc that crosses more than two series it seems. They start to lose interest (and the show to lose viewer numbers) when they have to work for their enjoyment by actually thinking about stuff for longer than they're comfortable with. It's all about ratings, which in turn are all about advertising revenue. Arthur C. Nielsen has a lot to answer for, Firefly's cancellation included. Before I invest too heavily in historical (i.e. more than 3 years old) American shows these days I tend to Google them, or look them up on Wikipedia, just to check that they weren't cut off in their prime, so to speak.

Leverage finished then then next awards got
Best TV series
or something like
Massive outcry when some series are pulled. Usually ignored by the makers/studio/whoever

Me too, especially as I've read the first novel in the Expanse series, Leviathan Wakes, by James S. A. Corey. I've started watching The Expanse using my stepdaughter's Prime account. It's pretty close to the book and the production values are startling. Wide ranging, with lots of characters and sub-plots, this is a Babylon 5 for the modern age. There is a massive story arc which hasn't become clear by E4, but will do by the end of S1. I'm already hooked.

I've also started watching The Lost Room, which is getting interesting.

Try "The Lost Room" if you've got some spare viewing time, Mike. It's sort of a cross between Warehouse 13, and a cop show. I'm a few episodes in, and although it's not "great art" (lat's face it, not much on TV is) it's quite watchable and the plot thickens, as they say, as the story progresses.

If you like Royal programs, The Crown which is on Netflix is pretty good.

Inside Bill Gates’ Mind on Netflix is really quite interesting too. A sight more interesting than the royal family (lower case intended)!

Definitely recommended. I am also enjoying the Crown, although I get the impression that wouldn't be for Martin

Started watching Mr Robot. Offbeat!.. The Wannabe CTO at Evil Corp is Swedish, and his wife is Danish. Quite a bit of subtitled dialogue between them - for any Scandiphiles out there.. Here she is, rather doll'd up..
